Today I had the chance to convey the testimony of Alemu Beyene and the refugees from Wollega to a room of congressional staffers on Capitol Hill. I did a partial showing of “Tears of Wollega” during the reception that followed the AEPEC congressional briefing in the Rayburn State Office Building on Capitol Hill to convey the testimonies in pictures beyond the words we spoke. Evidence emerging from the #Amhara and Oromia regions of Ethiopia, as well as from the capital city of Addis Ababa, have led the @LemkinInstitute to conclude that there is a strong probability that the Amhara people are facing an active genocide committed by members of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces and armed Oromo groups. This genocide follows the genocide committed by President Abiy Ahmed against the #Tigray people in northwestern Ethiopia, which is ongoing in the form of forced displacement from the Western Zone and insufficient access to basic needs. The whereabouts of an opposition Ethiopian lawmaker and a member of Addis Ababa city council is still unknown, their lawyer says. Earlier this month, Christian Tadele (pictured) and Kassa Teshager were detained in relation to the fighting in Amhara. bbc.in/47ESbXE
