Career Update: I recently got a job offer of Rs. 35 LPA in Bangalore. The package was good and the company was great, but the position demanded me to relocate. I politely rejected the offer, explaining that I’ll never move to Bangalore.

Western brands thought Indian upper middle class market will be roughly the size of the Chinese or at the very least the Japanese market. But it's roughly the size of the UK market. Look up revenues of global brands in India. They are roughly same as UK revenue.

In some very sad news, Hard Rock Cafe Bengaluru, Bengaluru Int. Airport, Bengaluru Whitefield, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Hyderabad Hitech City, Kolkata, New Delhi, Pune will be closing. Hard Rock International has formally terminated its agreements with JSM Corporation Pvt Ltd. and related entities covering the right to operate all Hard Rock Cafes and Rock Shops within India. The Hard Rock Hotel in Goa will remain open and is not connected to this operator.

So, a blabbermouth Golti lady is constructing a 6-7 storey building in my layout. They have blocked 80% of the road by piling cement. When I was taking mom & aunts out by car, I had no option other than drive on that #bengaluru 1/3

I have the same view of North India. I was visiting NCR and UP last year during Onam, and didn't see a single person in traditional attire or having Sadhya. Also found no Pookkalams in front of any house. You guys don't know how to have fun and celebrate festivals.
Vanshita@yourswriterly

The art of Hindi Cricket Commentary in the 1970s and 1980s! Hindi cricket commentary in the 1970s and 1980s was marked by very strict adherence to the language. Using English terminology was discouraged (unless asbolutely ncessary) and that led to the development of a very disinct Hindi cricket vocabulary that almost everyone who followed cricket in India on the radio or television in this period will be familair with, although I am sure not everyone will know their exact meanings even now. Here are some distinct Hindi cricket commentator terms and their meanings in conventional Engish. Ballebaazi and Ballebaaz: Batting and batsman/batter Gendbaazi and Gendbaaz: Bowling and bowler Harfanmaula: All rounder Khabbu: Left hander Daayein haath ke gendbaaz/ballebaaz: Right hander Salaami Ballebaaz: Opener or opening batsman Balle ka baahri hissa: outside edge Balle ka andruni hissa: inside edge Madhya Kram: Middle order Gilli: Bails Kshetrarakshan: Fielding Madhyam Gati ke Gendbaaz: Medium Pacer Teevra Gati ke/ Tez Gendbaaz: Pace bowler Pagbadha: Leg before wicket Chaukka or Chaar Run: Four Chhakka or Chhe Run: Six Dus run do wicket ke nuksaan par: 10 for 2 (for the loss of 2 wickets) Dastaane: Gloves Ausat: Average Seema rekha: Boundary Anya: Extras I am sure there were many others. The score was told in Hindi which could be a little confusing. Some of these terms have survived. But most have disappeared. And while they did confuse me quite often (I still have to think when the score is told in Hindi) , I sometimes miss them. They had a gentle ring of authenticity to them...something uniquely our own. Even today, when I hear "Khabbu spin gendbaaz apna kshetrarakhshan saajate hue..." ("Left arm bowler arrnaging his field), I close my eyes and I think I can hear the voices of Ravi Chaturvedi, Sushil Doshi, Dr. Narottam Puri, Jasdev Singh, and so many others. And I smile. @Raja_Sw @siddtalks @pradeepmagazine @anandkumarn @drippingashes @apmahapatra @VatsMusings @vijivenkatesh #Hindi #HindiCommentary #Cricket #HindiCricket #IndianCricket (Image: Tiger, Narottam Puri and Sushil Doshi in 1980)

@nilishamantri_ All would have been the same if our town planners decided to spread out the evolving job opportunities! I would also love to live in a “quieter place”, unfortunately then have to commute 2 hrs each side, leaving little aside to live! This situation was not created by the ppl here

Bengaluru isn’t just Marathahalli, HSR, Bellandur or Whitefield. That’s where laptops live. The city lives in Jayanagar, JP Nagar, Malleshwaram, Chickpet where idli-dosa aromas rise, and filter coffee brews around wide old trees🤌

Bangalore people are literally living under a rock. This is a clear AQI comparison between Bangalore (EAST) and Delhi. Both are at almost similar levels. Bangalore does not have all the external issues that Delhi has. The rest of Bangalore (apart from EAST) is still in the Green to Orange zone. However, East Bangalore is a GAS CHAMBER. Basic things that can limit the pollution levels: 1/ Take action against rampant illegal garbage burning. Burning releases PM2.5 particles, and that is literally like smoking 20 cigs a day. 2/ There are a lot of commercial vehicles on the road which are not fit as per pollution measures. Strict action is needed against those. No PUC / No Petrol. 3/ Restriction on construction activities that are not adhering to pollution standards. 4/ Proper cleaning of roads and curbs to limit dust flying. 5/ Encourage more tree plantation initiatives in East Bangalore. This area has far fewer trees than other parts of Bangalore. We need to wake up and raise our voices with our local authorities and drive change. Otherwise, this area will be branded as the “Pollution Hub of South India”. This needs serious media attention @the_hindu @timesofindia @EconomicTimes @BBCIndia @BangaloreMirror @BangaloreTimes1 @TimesNow @IndiaToday @ndtv @PMOIndia @Tejasvi_Surya @MALimbavali @ArvindLBJP @karnatakakspcb @CPCB_OFFICIAL

Our beaches were hidden. Now they too are fu*king ruined! All because a bunch of a$$holes planned to celebrate birthday of their kid. They burst the crackers at night, cut the cake and later left the trash to be picked up by locals in the morning. GUESS WHICH STATE THEY WERE FROM! Bloody Dehats!
