The cord around the baby’s neck is NOT a crisis. it’s biology doing what biology does. Nuchal cords happen in roughly 1 in 3 births. If it were “dangerous by default,” the human species wouldn’t have made it this far. Babies aren’t breathing air in the womb, they’re oxygenated through the cord. You can’t “strangle” a baby underwater, and you can’t strangle a baby in the womb. And yes, one of the reasons we SEE nuchal cords so often is because it keeps the cord close to the baby and out of the birth canal, which helps prevent cord prolapse (the real emergency). Nature isn’t stupid. It’s strategy. A cord around the neck is usually just… a cord around the neck, not a death sentence. Not an emergency by default. Not a guaranteed complication. Most of the time, it’s slipped off in seconds. The fear-based narrative around this is a lie that has stripped women of trust in birth physiology. Birth works. Always has.

Evidence shows CIS and papillary bladder cancer are clonally linked. In QUILT-3.032, ANKTIVA plus BCG achieved 96% survival from bladder cancer at 3 years with durable cystectomy avoidance in patients with papillary disease alone. Median not yet reached! Now published in The Journal of Urology with editorials, demonstrating that immune restoration can prevent progression into muscle invasive disease and avoid the life changing effects of having the bladder removed. auajournals.org/doi/10.1097/JU…

🕵️‍♂️A 46-year-old immunocompetent man presents with subacute confusion and speech disturbance, later developing seizures. Initial work-up is unremarkable, but neurological status rapidly worsens. CSF PCR eventually identifies the pathogen. What is the most likely cause?

About 1 in 4 men and 1 in 15 women have obstructive sleep apnea, yet most remain undiagnosed, untreated, and unaware of its impact on their brains and bodies. Untreated severe sleep apnea raises cognitive decline risk by 26%, impairs executive function and memory, and is recognized as a significant Alzheimer’s disease risk factor. It accelerates neuronal aging and neurodegeneration by: • Disrupting sleep architecture, reducing restorative deep (slow wave) and REM sleep, and causing lighter, fragmented sleep. • Triggering intermittent hypoxia, brief oxygen deprivation episodes that drive oxidative stress and inflammation. The good news? It’s treatable with CPAP therapy, mandibular devices, or lifestyle changes like targeted weight loss, which can reverse symptoms and protect cognitive health long-term. Listen to the latest FoundMyFitness episode with sleep expert Dr. Michael Grander (@michaelgrandner). Available on all platforms. Links in the comments below.

Your regular reminder that a small handful of autism clinics sold for $64m - a 32x run rate multiple. $2m profit 64 patients $64m exit 23 months from founding to exit New locations broke even in 1.5 months These autism clinics and deals aren't nearly as controversial as you'd think: - Insurance usually pays for it - Parents are largely happy - Business owner and employees do well ABA Therapy is life changing for these kids. My good friend is an M&A advisor that worked this deal

The first time I was refused care from my GP - due to a clinical decision made by a receptionist, I did a bit of a deep dive into NHS guidance on ‘care navigation’. Using the Wayback Machine, I compared earlier versions of the NHS guidance. And noticed the earliest editions were crystal clear that ‘care navigation’ is not the same as clinical decision-making. But over time, that language has quietly disappeared from guidance updates. That shift in wording reflects a significant change - from protecting patients against non-clinical gatekeeping - to normalising it as “efficient access.” This was just before my breast cancer operation, so I’d need to dig all that research out again. But I really should write something about it. What’s depressing is that no one seems to be covering these kinds of stories anymore. A decade ago, when I was writing for the Guardian, this is exactly the kind of piece I’d have pitched - and I feel sure would have been commissioned.

Will you thrive or die with AGI? Take this test. AI is advancing fast. Faster than any technology shift in history. Electricity took 46 years to reach mass adoption. The smartphone, 16. ChatGPT reached 100 million in two months.  Studies show that humans handle incremental change well but struggle with exponential change because our brains have evolved for linear prediction. We’re probing at this situation when we ask: will AI take my job? No one knows the answer to this question. What we do know: change is happening and it could be more radical than we can imagine. The question is: will you be able to adapt? Here is a thought experiment that will score you on adaptability. Score low and you will struggle, score high and you may thrive. Here we go. Imagine your future existence rests on three principles: + Nowhere to go + Nothing to do + No one to become That’s it. That’s your life. Most people feel psychological vertigo when hearing this because it violates the evolutionary code of our species. Humans are a striving species. We go places. We build things.  We become someone. Our entire civilization and self identity is built on the premise that meaning comes from becoming. Our self-worth is our usefulness. If your response to this possible future is “No thanks, I’d rather die.” You score low on adaptability and will struggle with change. If you feel discomfort but are also curious and are open to experimenting, you score high on adaptability and are more likely to thrive. History shows that adaptability, not intelligence, determines survival.
