ICE is sitting on a $75 billion slush fund it can tap, whether or not Congress passes it's annual funding bill. I've introduced legislation to redirect this money to local law enforcement, where it can be put to real use keeping communities safe.

@MikeLevin It feels increasingly like people get elected to Congress to become political social media influencers, not to legislate or enact meaningful change.

To my Republican colleagues who know better but remain silent in the face of mounting violence and corruption, I ask this sincerely: why did you come to Congress? Today, I voted in support of SJR 49, which would terminate the President’s national emergency declaration regarding our trade deficits with countries around the world. Bilateral trade deficits do not constitute a national emergency, nor do they qualify as an “unusual and extraordinary” circumstance needed to unlock authorities under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. We have a lot more work to do to reclaim Congress's constitutional power over tariffs, but this resolution is a step in the right direction.
