I was honored to be invited to the ribbon cutting of Inertia Enterprises’ brand new headquarters in Livermore on Friday! As the ranking member of @sciencedems, I’m thrilled to see the future of clean, safe fusion energy being developed right here in the Bay Area.

Springer Nature's decision last month to sell Scientific American and lay off staff—in the middle of their union election—is a tragedy for scientific journalism in the U.S. I grew up reading Scientific American. At 180 years old, it is the longest continuously published magazine in the country. I fully support their staff's fight to unionize and continue their crucial work, regardless of who owns the publication.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of touring the @reliable_robot Headquarters to learn about their work. Right here in Santa Clara County, the future of aviation is being shaped by new technology that will reduce accidents and make flying safer.

@WSJ: In a letter to Cantor Fitzgerald Chairman Brandon Lutnick, the commerce secretary’s son, the lawmakers raised concerns about potential violations of conflict-of-interest laws related to the U.S. government’s $1.6 billion investment in USA Rare Earth. wsj.com/business/democ…

For the past 250 years, the pursuit of discovery has been at the core of our American identity. Sadly, America's role as a leader in science and innovation is under attack by the Trump admin.   Our future depends on strong science. It must be protected.🇺🇸

Ranking Member Lofgren Demands Reversal of Changes Made to NSF Award Policies (Washington, DC) – Yesterday, Ranking Member Zoe Lofgren sent a letter to National Science Foundation (NSF) Acting Director Brian Stone demanding that NSF rescind its proposed amendments to its Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG). On June 24, NSF posted a change to the PAPPG that would implement provisions of the Office of Management and Budget's proposed rule that aims to make sweeping changes to how federal grants are awarded. This proposed rule was initially announced on May 29, and the comment period does not end until July 13. “NSF jumping the gun and issuing proposed PAPPG amendments before the OMB rule is finalized – let alone before the public comment period has concluded – is a clear sign that the Administration in general, and NSF specifically, have no interest in legitimately considering the input of the impacted community,” wrote Ranking Member Lofgren in the letter. “The only acceptable course of action at this point is to rescind the draft guidance from the Federal Register. Failing to do so would put NSF’s proposed draft guidance on dubious legal footing. Ultimately, the downfall of the proposed OMB rule would be a victory for American science, but an indictment of the Trump Administration’s competence and respect for the rule of law.” Read the letter democrats-science.house.gov/imo/media/doc/… @NSF @ScienceDems @RepZoeLofgren

Universities that expand America's STEM workforce should not have their funding cut because of “DEI,” but that’s what the Trump administration is doing.

Instead of trying to find "research fraud" as a pretext to cut lifesaving science, Republicans should be investigating the people who are wrongfully cutting science funding.

As a parent, I’m experiencing the struggle of raising kids in the digital age. One of the biggest challenges we face is figuring out how to limit screen time across different devices. I’m pushing to create a common standard for screen time limits so parents are able to understand and address the amount of time their kids spend online.

AI policy making in Congress should be centered around properly researching and combatting the negative impacts of this technology. I’m proud that @ScienceDems passed the following bills and amendments I presented at yesterday’s markup to ensure that we are putting working families ahead of large corporations.
