@Howlingmutant0 Reminded of a joke I saw on 4Chan: "I like my women like my coffee - ground up and in the freezer." You laugh, then you realize that there's a tiny chance the guy isn't kidding.

For those claiming that voting red isn’t a symptom of selfishness, imagine a variant of this where your vote doesn’t determine your own life, but the life of a random person assigned to you...
Tim Urban@waitbutwhy

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

@pjozolin @RockChartrand "We calculate this tax differently which makes what we spend it on not be welfare" is a very silly position. You are correct that my health insurance isn't welfare, but that's because it is a part of my compensation from my employer, along with the portion which I pay for.

@BeMyAnHero @RockChartrand Man, think again: you. Are. Paying. For. It. Separately. Yes, it’s mismanaged. Yes, it drains its own trust fund to cover the difference. No, it is not welfare. Not more than unemployment insurance or even your health insurance.

In reality: Welfare and income security programs make up roughly 60% of federal spending when you include Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and other transfers. Corporate subsidies are a tiny fraction, generally well under 5% of spending depending on how broadly you define them The top earners pay the overwhelming majority of income taxes A large share of households pay little to no net federal income tax once transfers and credits are factored in It’s minimizing the largest category of redistribution and exaggerating a much smaller one, then pretending disagreement means you hate poor people.

@pjozolin @RockChartrand Social security takes in 1.16 trillion and pays out 1.5 trillion. It's not funded separately, because money is fungible. You fell for it again.

@BeMyAnHero @RockChartrand So what? It does not make social security a “welfare program”: it’s funded separately and it funded based on the participation rules: you earn benefit based on the length of your payment to the system and on money you paid to the system.

@BeMyAnHero @quantum_geoff would you rather most people think like you, choose red, and risk being in the pool of people who die, or have most people choose blue and have everyone live regardless? the only reason you'd choose red is if you believe most people are a) utter morons or b) perfectly logical

@AyakaMods Its not only the above content, all content that objectifies or potentially seen leading to harms could be ground for termination. It is the same reason payment processors are forcing censorship onto many different platforms. Porn is women rights violation per their definitions.

Standing with gelbooru! Cloudflare blocked the entire internet over one fictional hand-drawn anime image that’s only “illegal” in Germany. Then they cite vague terms violations to try terminating the account. Gelbooru sent clear questions about U.S. law + outsourcing decisions to a German hotline and got complete no answer. Classic corporate censorship. Glad you are still here. The web shouldn’t be ruled by one foreign hotline. Germany, take a L
Gelbooru@gelbooru

Not sure I ever put up screenshots regarding the Cloudflare blocking ALL countries for an image deemed illegal in Germany. They later cite their terms and claim they were being broken to try to terminate our account. I asked two questions. Silence. Welp. We're still here.

A trolley is hurtling across the tracks! Oh, no! You have to pull a level to divert it, the only thing is...! No one is currently tied to the tracks...🤔 However! If you so choose, you can totally tie yourself to the tracks, get run over by the trolley, and die. Or you can just, like, not and live. But, don't worry! Cause if at least half the people also choose to tie themselves to the tracks with you, we'll divert the trolley and you get to live! (Oh, fyi, and the people who didn't tie themselves to the tracks also get to live no matter what you choose to do.)
Michael Ascending@MichaelAscendin

@lisavsworld It's genuinely a weird intellectual exercise. I genuinely think it's a case of practical logic vs suicidal empathy. Choosing blue means you are counting on others to make the same choice as you to ensure survival.

You are offered a pill. Anyone who takes the pill, dies, unless over 50% of humanity takes the pill. Obviously, you cannot be affected by the pill if you don't take it. Is the same moral scenario as the red and blue buttons?

@RockChartrand You know what’s the issue with this math? Including social security for convenience. It is not a government funded welfare program: we pay part of our salary for the promise of a benefit in future. Current recipients did the same. It’s not an entitlement.

A bank doesn’t “take your house” arbitrarily. You agreed to a contract to buy it, using their capital. If you stop paying, they reclaim what was never fully yours. Communism isn’t enforcing a contract. It’s rejecting ownership entirely and redistributing based on political claims. One is conditional transfer tied to an agreement you chose. The other is seizure justified by entitlement. Calling both “theft” only works if you ignore consent.

@RockChartrand Theft is when they sell your mortgage and then change the terms. Theft is charging a rate of usury dependent on inflation rather than a fixed amount. Theft is devaluing the spending power of your money by printing more. All are theft. All are tactics the banks use.

A Michaelangelo is not art such as this.
boger@boggeerr

@GuardTm Ultimately it boils down to leftists rejecting their identity with the desire to return to nature, while rightists desire to conquer it. You are a lotus eater, comfortable in paradise. You can’t conceive of the hyperborean drive to impregnate a village of beautiful khajiit women

@IntrepidNewsUS @JTAlexander @CaesariteJoseph There is a difference between the Pope giving doctrinal pronouncement and a personal opinion. If the pipe declares a restaurant to be "the best" that doesn't require Catholics to believe that this opinion is divinely ordained.

its always been fun to me to watch catholics disagree with and challege the vicar of Christ, the heir of St. Peter.... lol. I mean, if I sincerely believed that dude was the vicar of christ, I probably wouldn't disagree with him about anything lol lol. I'm very fortunate I dont believe in any of that hogwash.

Non-Catholics constantly misunderstand the nature of Catholicism and the Papacy. To be clear: 99.99% of the time, the Pope’s opinions are just his opinions. We aren’t bound by them and often disagree with them—especially over the past 20 years. The current gap between the laity, the other laity, and the Senior Clergy is primarily one of age. Catholics over 65 are virtually all relatively liberal. Catholics over ~45 are virtually all mirrors of their local politics. Catholics between ~35 and ~45 lean hard in favor of Trump. Catholics under 35 are virtually all praying for a Pope to order a Crusade against Congress and California. The Pope and USCCB are all over 65. It’s not hard to see what’s going on.
Leading Report@LeadingReport

President Trump’s approval rating rises with Catholics after criticizing Pope Leo, per Newsweek.

New Trolley problem has arrived, only it's dumber. Pres Red - 100% chance of living. Blue - Non-zero chance of dying. It has nothing to do with empathy for others unless you're stuck on suicidal empathy, which is YOUR fault, not mine. There is ZERO logical reason for ANYONE to press blue. NONE.
