@BenSpathWX We'll be in a bit of a break, and then another "wave" later tonight. Can't rule out another downpour after dinner time.

SOAKER ON THE WAY: An extended stretch of on again/off again rainfall is set to develop from later tonight through early Thursday across much of WNY. An upper level low will close off overhead, stalling out and serving as the catalyst for waves of rainfall. With plenty of moisture available, rainfall totals will be considerable in spots. Exact rainfall amounts will largely hinge on the exact development and track of smaller scale thunderstorms, of which are difficult to isolate. The exact track of the surface low will also play a role. While detailed numbers will be highly variable, it seems reasonable to expect 1-2" of rain through Thursday as a base case. There will likely be spots that double that, perhaps more. Spaced across several days, many areas will be able to handle this water. Those on the higher end of the bell curve will stand at least some risk for flooding.
