Personal experience - @easyJet is basically smoking @British_Airways on customer service. Flights closer to being on time, better comms, the whole lot. Thinking of canceling my next BA trip because they have been such the dog's breakfast...

Very disappointed in @British_Airways who basically ruined a little weekend vacation to Nice by being a total of ~8 hours late on the round trip. Had to taxi between train stations in London to barely make the last train home because Underground had stopped running for the night.

@ardalis Can't say I completely agree. Estimates and schedules aren't just for engineers. They are for doc team, training team, sales, finance team etc that will have work to do once something is delivered. The product is the sum of all that.

@thebeebs But does that have to have been their job? I say no - but it has to be something you are interested in. I would argue that as a HM it is easier to teach the tech to a new hire than it is to teach the softer skills...

@thebeebs Meh... it depends on how you define the role. If you emphasize the teaching aspect then technologists are rarely the best - you need a teacher that knows tech.

@boristane New functionality needs training documentation created. That takes time. Account teams need to understand how to sell it... more time. If you can't help other teams build their timelines, then you aren't adding as much value to the business as you seem to think...

I don't really understand why we keep trying to "estimate" how much time building software would take engineers know it's bollocks tech leads know they are useless PMs know it's finger the air estimations yet so many teams still do this silly dance

@webdevcody Adding code to push a notification is easy. Completing a project to decide what to send, when to send it, add monitoring to automate sending, write and internationize notification content, make sure notification deep links work everywhere, enable sub/unsub, etc is a bit harder.

I just talked to project lead at a party and he said his team of developers took 6 months to add push notifications to their react native app. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t this a trivial thing to add?
