Rep. @RepBrewerSC114 lays it out in the @postandcourier on H.3858. SC had the highest boat property taxes in the country on a part-time asset—and it was pushing owners out of state. Nearly 80% of boats over $120K were registered elsewhere, leaving smaller boat owners carrying the load. The old system wasn’t working. The numbers don’t back the criticism. H.3858 brings fairness back and keeps boats registered in South Carolina 🚤

The South Carolina General Assembly has addressed a long-standing wrong by passing H. 3858, cutting the highest boat property taxes in the country, ending the double taxation of outboard engines through a one boat, one bill system, and saving South Carolina taxpayers more than $40 million. This important issue impacts hundreds of thousands of South Carolinians who enjoy our outdoors and the $6.5 billion industry that supports them. The SCBFA is grateful to bipartisan members of both chambers for listening to their constituents and taking action.

Waffle House announced plans to bring floating restaurant locations to lakes across the Southeastern U.S., serving boaters, anglers, and waterfront communities. The concept will feature the classic menu and 24/7 service on floating platforms accessible by boat, with initial sites planned in Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and the Carolinas. Billy Joe Armstrong, a longtime Lake Eufaula, Alabama resident, said he’s thrilled about the addition of a Waffle House on his home lake, noting he’s tired of grabbing breakfast from Indian gas stations and having his stomach torn up all day while trying to fish. 😂🤣
