I don't have a lot of friends following me here, so I feel I can be honest. My husband (35 years together) has dementia and it's progressing very fast. Today, he wandered from a doctor's appointment at the hospital and it took me (and a bunch of kind, very kind, police officers)

It’s mind boggling how much money every single vacation rental home in Lake Tahoe loses Even if you bought a decade or two ago, you’re probably still losing money. You may even be losing money if you don’t have a mortgage, the homes are so expensive to maintain in harsh conditions, insurance is challenging, labor market is tight You have these super nice homes that have zero bookings every spring and fall and not necessarily tons of revenue during the winter either. Maybe not in the summer either depending the features and locations Has to be a purely non-financial decision (ie a second home) and even so, it's a decent amount of work to make sure the home stays in good shape I have to remind myself of this every time we visit because it's so nice up there it very appealing to make terrible financial mistake. For 13 years have been trying to figure out an angle that works and have yet to do so😅 Such a nice place though! Most folks seem to have no regrets about buying a place if they use the place a lot and can withstand the financial burn
