It’s dawned on me that there was no reason to expect these to be lead roles. Helen hardly shows up in the Odyssey and Sinon isn’t in it at all. Why were these “defenders of western civilization” expecting them to be lead roles? Because they haven’t read the poem.

It's an autobiographical film about Nolan regretting wasting a decade of his life making Batman films and that his attempt to use those films as a Trojan horse for his own ideas was mistake he and the film industry are still paying for.

@ThatchEffendi Fiddler on the Roof is apparently very well loved in Japan. A lot of the themes translate very well. It's cool that a story so fully rooted in one place still can feel universal through the lens of different cultures.

Jim Crow Fiddler is one of the most obvious "don't threaten me with a good times" I've ever heard.
'To Life', maybe the most beloved song in Fiddler, has a bunch of Cossacks burst into a celebration of an engagement only to...dance with everyone after an initial moment of terror. Jewish and Slavic music and dance styles begin to work off each other.
Does that sound like any other movie from the last year?
