This is Ostallos Siziba, a former Member of Parliament, a student leader, and a Zimbabwean political activist.
He attempted to contribute to today’s parliamentary consultations on Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3 in Nketa, but he was completely ignored.
If you are going to rig a process, at least be sophisticated about it, not this brazen and reckless.
Parliament and the authorities must understand that if this process is to be legitimate and acceptable, it must not only be seen to be so, it must in fact be so in substance, in conduct, and in outcome.
One of the reasons advanced by those who support Constitutional Amendment No. 3 is that it is meant to heal contested elections. Yet, in the process of trying to make it law, it is already creating contested processes, and even if it is eventually enacted, it will remain contested and discredited.
They need to fix this before it further undermines the very legitimacy they claim to be restoring.

What a circus…? Hearing on Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3 ended prematurely at Kwekwe Theatre in Kwekwe after Melody Chingarande, the only person who opposed the Bill was booed and kicked out of the venue. Sympathisers escorted Chingarande from the venue to Kwekwe Central Police Station as she faced threats from hooligans. The hall was packed with Zanu PF supporters bussed from outside the city.

That is why I said let us focus on the constitutional process engagement that is taking place, we will address the rest later. There is a deliberate attempt to distract people with nonsense by a fiction writer in the UK.
The biggest issue of our time is the Constitutional Amendment Bill. It has far-reaching implications for governance, accountability, and the future of the country. Let us not be sidetracked by manufactured distractions designed to dilute public attention and weaken meaningful engagement. Let us focus on what truly matters.

Here is one of the only two opposing voices that got an opportunity to speak at Chitsanga Hall in Chiredzi where there was a public hearing on Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill this morning. This speaker argued that 200MPs cannot have a mandate to select a president for 16 million people. He said that the President has something to do with every citizen and therefore every citizen must get an opportunity to choose a president of their choice. Further, he said, the integrity of Zimbabwe’s MPs is rotten and most of them got there through hook and crook. Zanu PF bussed in hundreds of people into Chiredzi last night and the presentation was choreographed.

A citizen in Chitungwiza speaks clearly, one man, one vote, the President must be chosen by the people, not Parliament. Calls for a referendum were met with attempts to drown his voice. But the message is louder than the noise, the people want to decide #CDF.

This is the current state of the highly publicised Zim Cyber City project in Mount Hampden, which was officially launched in July 2022.
Construction at the site was expected to begin in 2022 as part of a US$500 million development funded by a Dubai-based investor, with Paul Tungwarara involved in the project. The project was planned to be completed in phases over about three years. Some sections were expected to be ready between 2024 and 2025.
The project was meant to include modern buildings such as apartments, offices, shops and hotels, forming part of a much larger new capital city plan estimated at up to US$60 billion. However, despite these plans, there is still very little to show on the ground. So far, only a few small buildings have been constructed, and most of the major structures that were promised have not yet been built.
