If you have an 8088 based system, did you upgrade it to a NEC V20? There are definitely some benefits, including slightly faster performance, and support for several 186/286 instructions! I've been able to run programs that wouldn't otherwise run on an 8088 on my Tandy 1000 HX

@Gammitin We used these in the 80’s to get extra speed when running AutoCAD.

NEC V30 processor family is pin-compatible with 8086, runs at the same speed as the 8086, but can be 10 to 30% faster. It emulates all the 8080 instructions and also includes all 8086/8088/80186/80188 CPU instructions natively. It was manufactured by: 🔵NEC 🔵Sony 🔵Sharp 🔵Zilog

Smooth scrolling on a long-persistence VT220 is strangely beautiful.

@CommodoreBlog An Intergraph workstation running IGDS probably with a DEC VAX or PDP in a computer room. Wrote code for these in the 80’s😀.
