@ArtAcevedo 9500 Liberty is an excellent documentary. Chief Charlie Deane provided strong leadership in a very divided political environment for the department and community.

Edited version: "9500 Liberty" is a documentary released in 2010 that skillfully delves into the immigration debate. With a runtime of just 1 hour and 17 minutes, it is definitely worth watching. The themes explored in this film remain as pertinent today as they were upon its release. #RelationalPolicing 9500 Liberty Documentary youtu.be/7lYfxIM0294?si…

Please take a moment to read the article below, which discusses the economic impact of undocumented immigrants. Police chiefs have long urged Congress to enact comprehensive immigration reform. Unfortunately, Congress has consistently failed to take action. Both sides of the aisle have missed crucial opportunities to implement the much-needed reform. #RelationalPolicing

@ArtAcevedo @statesman Many cities across America struggled with obtaining the resources necessary to process the backlog of sexual assault kits. It wasn't until the Federal Government began to provide assistance that the backlog was reduced. Acevedo was not provided the resources he sought.

@Jerry_Ratcliffe @TheIACP Had the pleasure of meeting Bill close to 20 years ago while working together with the Innocence Project encouraging police to improve eyewitness identification policies and practice. He has truly made important and lasting contributions to policing in his 47 year career.

With the retirement of Bill Brooks, we say thank you to not only an officer for 47 years, but also an @TheIACP board member, and a subject matter expert on eyewitness identification. If you want to hear from the man himself on these topics, take a listen podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/51-…

Upon hearing of the unexpected decision of my good friend and professional colleague, LAPD Police Chief Mike Moore, to retire after a four-decade career with that storied department, I was reminded of the expression, ‘there is never a good time to leave something you love, but there is the right time.’ Mike has obviously decided that now is the right time for him and his family. I first met then-Commander Moore in 2002 upon my appointment as LAPD Chief, beginning a twenty-year professional and personal relationship. He has had an exceptional career during some of the most critical times of crises and challenge for his department and the American police profession, including most recently during his tenure as Chief, dealing with rising crime and disorder, the Covid epidemic, the George Floyd demonstrations, the Defund the Police movement, the loss of hundreds of officers. and the many new technological and crime challenges of the 21st century. His exceptional leadership skills, ingenuity, dedication, and creativity have helped the department and the profession to navigate those turbulent times. He leaves the LAPD knowing that he had a career of significance and impact. He is a cop whose time in the ‘Arena’ counted and whose profession will continue to matter in preserving American democracy. Thank you for your service, Mike.

Pursuit policies are trending again. It's a tricky one to be sure. @PoliceForum recently recommended that agencies only permit pursuits when there is evidence of a violent crime *and* failure to immediately apprehend would pose an imminent threat to public safety.
