@tiger26297 @PGC1a_RB If you know about computational theory, you can model a lot of this as a sort of analog/fluidic computer, with stochastic effects depending on stocks & flows of various enzymes & things they act upon.
The body is kind of like a mini-economy unto itself.

@AbudBakri How TF you supposed to learn all this shit if you're not a PhD?

@tatsncatss There are other plants that are dangerous too. Same with hair growth products. The lack of warnings sicken me

@nancylacore You were a senior flag in the Fat Leonard, multiple collisions at sea, burn a major amphib to the waterline at pier side Navy. Considering the institutional culture that produced such senior leadership, it's probably best you sit this one out. Just sayin'

After decades of service to our country, a career that started as a Navy pilot and finished as a three star admiral, I was removed from my position without cause.
I still have more to give, more to fight for, more work to do — and I am not done serving.

@jim3percent @nancylacore That's not what that means. It means she was in ROTC during college. It adds significant extra difficulty to college life; it's a commitment. You should at least have seen JROTC kids at your high school. The J is Junior

@nancylacore She was in the reserves her entire career, and never flew a single combat mission.

@VigilantFox Well. I had observed the wheel slip, but immediately recognized it to be the normal behavior resulting from shifting from reverse to drive while still in motion, vs at a stop with foot on the brake. There's is a brief torque spike for torque-converter type automatic transmissions

Tim Pool presents slowed-down footage “proving” the 37-year-old woman shot by ICE intended to “kill that ICE agent.”
“Watch the officer who has his gun drawn… You see his foot sliding? Yeah. He’s not taking a step. He’s being hit by the vehicle.”
“Were it not for the ice, which you can see on the ground, the vehicle would have just lurched forward and run this guy over.”

@FranceintheUK The freedom to speak includes the freedom to discuss unpopular, distasteful, and even illegal content.
If you can't do those things, you don't have the freedom to speak.

8yo cat broke her hind paw.
ER vet who we respect and trust said that the best course of action is amputation. cats adapt well and the surgery to "fix" broken feet works badly and causes lifelong pain
wife calls normal vet to set up. they push surgery and suggest a CREDIT CARD
eigenrobot@eigenrobot
@ThreeCatsInCoat she'll live but probably losing her foot :(

@SeanGrossman6 @Austen This, save yourself from your late-night alter ego and any number of other alarm-volume failure modes

@ChartingFor @RedPillReality_ @GoBrightline Is that orange bag... a piece of gear from the *truck's storage* that happened to get lodged!?

Caved and got o1 Pro.
I asked it my favorite question to ask these models, and it gave much more interesting answers than either o1 preview or Claude 3.5 Sonnet.
They're not quite as mind-bending as I'd want -- I've seen a version of all of them except #7 -- but still better:

@webdevMason and, 2, if you never get used to yourself because for nutritional or whatever reasons you don't get a consistent cycle to calibrate to, I could see that leading to the conclusion or belief that it's just not possible to calibrate to. See also trying hormonal contraceptives etc
English

@webdevMason Only comment I'd have is that, 1, going from not having a cycle to having one obviously takes some getting used to before you can feel calibrated and be able to judge perceptions through the filter of experience for how you tend to see things at that "time"

@killsheaa @Az_Real_News @GigaBasedDad Youngest brother also got a 99 btw, and he was homeschooled, then public for 9th-12th
Other two brothers, similar schooling, got mid 90s but they're shy about it bc it wasn't 99
English

@killsheaa @Az_Real_News @GigaBasedDad (I did end up with a 99 on the real one. Also, homeschool kid. Mostly. Went to public for five semesters. 8th, 9th, half of 10th.)
