When his aircraft landed at Halifax, Nova Scotia, President Zelenskyy was met by Prime Minister Mark Carney – the head of government of Canada. When he landed at Miami, Florida, not a single U.S. official met Zelenskyy. Canada is Ukraine's ally. The U.S. is Russia's proxy.

I'm from Gaza, and I'm telling you that most of the tents have been destroyed and blown away from their places. We couldn’t sleep, every child’s clothes are soaked with rainwater. Isn’t it time for the world to wake up and put an end to this tragedy?

@OborneTweets Not sure about “senior”, Peter. But definitely interesting. Reminiscent of Tommy Tugboat’s (who is a good guy) time as David Richards’ representative on Earth.

Wake up Giles! The post of Naval Assistant to the First Sea Lord dates back to 1905. Every previous occupant has been a senior naval officer. Now the role is suddenly handed to a political journalist. It's entirely reasonable to point this out and ask what's going on.
Giles Dilnot@reporterboy

Ungenerous, mean spirited and snide towards someone (no idea if Peter knows him) who regardless of whatever he’s done before….is a thoroughly decent human being 🙄

@roddreher Michael Anton wrote a rather good book about men’s tailoring. I suspect he should have stayed at that level.

Christopher Caldwell gets the Trump NSS exactly right. Trump doesn't "hate Europe"; he hates the globalist technocratic class ruining it. Michael Anton, the chief drafter of the NSS, told me that he personally loves Europe -- but not the EU & its mindset. nytimes.com/2025/12/11/opi…

Jahan Shah Safi was a long-time National Directorate of Security (NDS) official serving in his native Kunar province. He was eventually promoted to senior roles within the agency, first as the deputy NDS chief for Kunar and later as the Deputy Director of Operations (DDO) for Nangarhar province. Over the years, he worked closely with U.S. military and intelligence units operating in eastern Afghanistan, developing strong professional ties and a reputation as one of their most trusted local partners. He was well known to American officers for his reliability, operational effectiveness, and deep knowledge of insurgent networks along the Kunar–Nangarhar corridor. During the 1990s, his father, Haji Jandad Khan Safi, fought against the Taliban in Kunar, aligning himself with Commander Ahmad Shah Massoud.
NCTC Director Joe Kent@NCTCKent

Excellent work by @ICEgov! This is great collaboration by @DHSgov and NCTC. This individual is just ONE of over 1400 Afghans with terror ties identified by NCTC but ignored and let in by the negligent Biden administration. Thanks to @POTUS and @DNIGabbard‘s leadership, we are finding these terrorists and taking them off the streets.

@michaeldweiss @JEyal_RUSI From the early 90s, NATO was indeed a solution looking for a problem. But now (or since 2008/9) it is again a solution to the problem of Russian imperialism.

@historicfirearm Extraordinary isn’t it? On a point of detail, they are probably closer to 70 years old, but who can imagine a design from 1855 being regarded as capable in 1935? As sign how much SA design has ossified.

@haynesdeborah @JohnHealey_MP @BritishArmy AJAX is a cruiser tank. A concept proved invalid in 1940-41. Thirty years (FRES) to deliver an overweight, under-capable vehicle that also happens to make its crew ill. Bloody joke, that I got very tired of defending at MOD.

This wasn’t an accident waiting to happen but one that was already happening while @JohnHealey_MP & his team declared Ajax to be safe. What’s key to understand is why the @BritishArmy apparently assured ministers Ajax was safe when soldiers were still being harmed? Surely there must finally be accountability & responsibility taken for what’s going on with this £6bn programme

@shashj @edwardlucas A company of airborne (ultra) light infantry? They’d last about 30 (heroic) minutes in a full-on fight v heavy forces. If you want to deter, demonstrate mass and scale and lethality.

The Afghan data breach is just another example of our defence ambitions and fine words writing cheques our actual capacity cannot cash. SDR makes the same mistakes, it wishes things into existence and pats itself on the back for doing so, without any reference to reality

Awful pictures. Still staggering that nearly 2 years into WW1, our General Melchetts were still using ineffective and wasteful tactics. We tell ourselves that the big breakthrough was the tank, but neglect the Ger MP18 armed stormtroopers and the Fr Chauchat teams.
