The swirling discourse around a possible pardon is complicated by the news that Maxwell reportedly sent a mysterious USB drive to the Justice Department on April 16th, just days after Melania Trump gave a bizarre and unexpected press conference during which she sought to distance herself from Epstein. What could be on that USB? One long-discussed concern is that Maxwell might expose Democrats connected to Epstein, while covering up the role of Republicans and Trump himself. To be clear: the American people deserve to know every name in those files, regardless of political party. Every Democrat should be exposed, but so should every Republican. It certainly seems possible that Maxwell might implicate Trump's political enemies in exchange for a pardon, while simultaneously obfuscating his wrongdoing. This cannot be allowed to happen.
