@money_cruncher 72(t)’s are much more appealing ever since I learned you can have an unlimited number of separate 72(t)‘s for whatever value you want. Thanks @ChooseFi lol. Start with one at $100k, and if I like it, do another bigger one!

I contribute $878 every two weeks to my 401k. My employer matches it with another $231. So, ~$2,200 is going into my 401k every month. My plan is to use IRS Section 72(t) to be able to withdraw that money much earlier than age 59½.

My friend was just quoted 1.26% to invest $50,000 with a financial advisor. This seems high to me, and I told her as much. Am I off base?

I spend most of my walks and drives listening to @ChooseFi and other financial independence podcasts. I love the episodes about value based spending, frugality, and have an admiration for the investing strategies in total market ETFs as a longer term path to wealth. As someone who made most of their money on Tesla's first major run up, followed by bitcoin moving from 7k-60k, it's really really really really hard to begin to move money into these other investment vehicles that expect smaller but less volatile returns. 8% a year is great, but can be tough when you're used to either 500% gains or 70% losses. Throughout this bull market I've been planning my DCA strategy to begin to move some of my crypto holdings into the S&P indexes and so on, but still feel that we are too early in this cycle to do so. The volatility is something I've gotten used to and can deal with, but know that long term I need to be more diversified and less high-risk with my entire portfolio. Tough battle either way and I just don't know what the right move is.

@Luke_Swanson_ @maxpashman nice, yeah, that sounds like the modern Financial Independence Movement that we've championed, not this ridiculous caricature of FIRE deprivation

Every $100 you cut out of your monthly budget is $30,000 less you need to reach FI. Let that sink in. FI is not about deprivation but don't for a second believe small changes don't matter.

We are on track to be NW millionaires in a few years and have been able to enjoy the ride along the way. We do not have financial backgrounds or have inheritances. We have just learned from people like @ramit @ChooseFi & the FIRE Reddit
