What would repealing the Affordable Care Act without more than a concept of a plan look like? Before the ACA became law in 2010, insurance was expensive and often hard to obtain. Most policies didn’t cover pre-existing conditions.

#DoBetter Bill Maher! Criticizing the actions of the Israeli government — including occupation, settlement expansion, collective punishment, or alleged apartheid/genocidal conduct — is not inherently antisemitic any more than criticizing Saudi Arabia is anti-Arab or criticizing Iran is anti-Persian. Antisemitism is hatred or discrimination against Jews as Jews. Political criticism of a state is a different animal altogether. I’ll say it again — Opposing Israeli government policies is not opposition to the Jewish people. Conflating the two shuts down legitimate discussion and actually weakens the fight against real antisemitism.

Narrative violation warning: Elders in my Arab village in Israel told me the richest Palestinians sold their land and left first. 80 years later, their grandkids now claim to be displaced victims. I am so allergic to victim mindset. It boils my blood. ~15 million displaced Hindus and Muslims in India-Pakistan around the SAME year. No one is trying to be a victim there. It's time to move on. "You only get to be a victim once. After that, you’re a volunteer."
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

Today marks Nakba Day, an annual day of remembrance to commemorate the expulsion of more than 700,000 Palestinians between 1947 and 1949 during the creation of the State of Israel and the year that followed. Inea is a New Yorker and a Nakba survivor. She shared her story with us — one of home, tradition and memory over generations.

David Costello also grew up working-class, unlike Platner who grew up wealthy. Costello's father was an Army veteran and AFL-CIO organizer. Costello was the first in his family to get a 4-year degree. He's on the ballot in Maine. People can rank him first. costelloforsenate.com/about-4

@magi_jay @Costello4Senate That’s been bugging me. The primary ain’t over and for all the talk about who is and isn’t grassroots or speaking for working class interests, well let’s acknowledge Costello doesn’t has high priced consultants that Platner has or sympathetic media ecosystems behind him either.

🚨 HOW HORRIBLE: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis had a Black Democratic state lawmaker arrested after a 5-hour sit-in at his office. Then he amplified a post calling her “ghetto.” State Rep. Angie Nixon, a Jacksonville Democrat now running for U.S. Senate, sat outside DeSantis’s office for five hours Friday. She wanted to speak with someone in the governor’s office about affordability and the new congressional map. The Capitol Police arrested her on a trespassing charge. Press were ordered out of the building. Two of her supporters were arrested with her. DeSantis then went on social media. He retweeted a post from an allied account that called Nixon a “ghetto rep.” He added his own caption. “FAFO.” This is the same governor who in his 2018 campaign warned voters not to “monkey it up” by electing his Black opponent. The map Nixon was protesting — passed in a special session two weeks ago — adds four GOP-leaning seats heading into November. When you knock on power’s door with documented evidence, power doesn’t debate you. It demeans you. Then it arrests you.

Bill Maher just delivered the most clear-eyed, no-bullshit monologue on Israel & antisemitism you’ll hear from any mainstream voice in 2026. “Israel was founded on the idea that antisemitism made a Jewish state necessary ... Can you honestly listen to this rhetoric and not see why that turned out to be true?” One of many brutal examples: he called out Columbia professor Hamid Dabashi, who wrote that Jews have “a vulgarity of character that is bone-deep and structural to the skeletal vertebrae of its culture.” Maher’s reply: “These are the kinds of statements Goebbels would have read and said, ‘No notes.’” Then he turned to his own party and delivered the kill shot: “Democrats, where are you? … Until you fix this issue, stop asking me why I’m harder on you.” Bill Maher is perhaps the one person left in late-night television who still chooses truth over applause. The rest are just cowards with good lighting. Thank you Bill🙏

@kdeutschjourno @adam_louis52328 💯 — especially important to say on this anniversary of the founding of the state of Israel, in the Jews’ indigenous homeland. Never apologize for this beautiful nation, contributing so much to the world in the face of unrelenting hate. #AmYisraelChai

September 11, 2001. 9:37 a.m. Lt. Col. Marilyn Wills was in a Pentagon conference room when American Airlines Flight 77 struck. The fireball threw her across the table. Her hair caught fire. The room went black with smoke. Crawling, she felt a hand grab her belt. "My name is Lois," a voice said. Lois Stevens, a civilian employee, injured and choking. "Stay with me. Where I go, you go." Wills pressed her Army sweater into Lois's hands. "Breathe through this." When Lois collapsed, her nylons melted to her legs, Wills lifted her onto her back and carried her. Six others followed the sound of her voice through the wreckage. They reached a sealed second-floor window. They broke it. Cool air rushed in. Wills stayed inside. "I'll go last," she said, and helped lower every person out before she fell into rescuers' arms below. Lois Stevens lived 23 more years because of that decision. Wills received the Soldier's Medal and Purple Heart for her burns, smoke inhalation, and traumatic brain injury. Thirteen days later, she returned to the Pentagon. She later deployed to Afghanistan. She never called herself a hero. "We lost so many that day," she said quietly. "They were my friends." Some leaders give orders. Others carry people through the fire. God bless Lt. Col. Marilyn Wills — and all who served on 9/11.

BREAKING from @Jerusalem_Post: A Palestinian man from Gaza has formally demanded that the International Criminal Court investigate 14 Hamas leaders for crimes committed against Palestinians. The man lost his wife, children, and other family members during the war in Gaza. He argues that if Hamas had not committed war crimes against Palestinians, particularly the crime of using civilians as human shields, his family and countless other Gazans would still be alive. War crimes and crimes against humanity listed in the submission include using civilians as human shields, attacking civilians, causing great suffering, destruction of property, excessive incidental death, injury, or damage, conscripting children, murder, extermination, torture, persecution, and more. The Hamas leaders named in the submission are Izz al-Din al-Haddad, Khaled Mashaal, Mahmoud al-Zahar, Mohammed Odeh, Muhannad Rajab, Khalil al-Hayya, Mousa Abu Marzook, Ghazi Hamad, Izzat al-Rishq, Fathi Hamad, Nizar Awadallah, Husam Badran, Zaher Jabarin, and Basem Naim. For decades, innocent Palestinians have paid the price for Hamas's genocidal war against Israel. They deserve justice. The submission was filed on behalf of the Gazan man by American attorneys @ElliotMalin and Eli Rosenbaum and French attorney @sarah_scialom.

The Maine primary isn't over yet. There is another Democratic candidate on the ballot: David Costello: @Costello4Senate. Maine voters absolutely have the option to rank him first. The GOP has Oppo on Platner that they're planning on dropping after the primary. Rank Costello 1st.

Fwiw, I’m rooting for Platner in the general election of course. Better than a republican. But i think it’s clear as day you can’t trust him and it could backfire and he could be Fetterman 2. But no other choice since Mills is toast. @magi_jay

Super important piece — well done The media has not been reporting on what’s happening on this war — they have been participating in it. Here’s my piece on that “When accusations of genocide and ethnic cleansing are treated as settled facts before investigations begin, journalism has crossed an important line. In coverage of Israel, that line is increasingly blurred. Headlines often assume intent, amplify partisan claims, and preserve moral conclusions even when facts later change. What emerges is not simply biased reporting, but a new role for the media itself.” blogs.timesofisrael.com/media-particip…

The goal of Islamist propaganda is to destroy all Jewish life. What Hamas didn’t kill October 7, the propaganda war works to extinguish now. They want our campuses to seethe with hate. If you tolerate it because it’s Jews—“Zionists”—you’re part of a terrorist hate movement.

The word “Nakba” was first used by a Syrian history professor teaching in Beirut, Constantin Zureiq, to describe the Arab defeat in Palestine, the failure of the Arab armies to destroy Israel. The Arabs failed in the bid to murder every Jew, aka the Nakba.
Chris Rabb@chrisrabb

Today, we recognize the Nakba never ended. The genocide in Gaza and horrific erasure of communities across Palestine & Lebanon must end now. In Congress, I will join @RashidaTlaib @IlhanMN on a resolution to recognize the Nakba and reaffirm Palestinian refugees' right of return.
