You are a childless man chasing a job with Farage, not me, Laurie. I do not want or need anything from him, but you do. This pathetic slopulism clearly isn't beneath you, but it should be. You doubtless know that it will never come to pass, but it will damage the country in the process. Sad, weak, and sniveling on your part. You know better.
Laurie Wastell@L_Wastell

Oh please. Practically the only thing Restorers talk about are “partisan” gripes about their personal dislike for Farage (because he didn’t give them a job). Just how “responsible” or magnanimous is it to try and derail the only serious hope the right has out of petty resentment and for your own career prospects – while puppeting your leader to pretend he’s more right-wing than he is?

@RupertLowe10 Yep Reform are a joke. Let’s say the Greens win a seat by 25% and Reform come a close second at 24% then Reform will betray those voters which is an absolute disgrace. Reform are not a serious party, this is just a stupid stunt move by them.

@DPJHodges @BasedMillwaII @ju25378 WHAT!! Bizarre take, Lewisham/ Hackney are already majority immigrant areas so would be easiest place to put them - not much White British resistance in these areas due to demographics.

One other thing. If Nigel Farage thinks he’s going to be able to build a migrant detention centre in the middle of Lewisham or Hackney he’s in for a nasty shock.

Terrible, vindictive, ideological politics. Not a responsible steward of the land, but instead a partisan attack on political opponents because a percentage of the constitutency voted the wrong way. Atrocious.
Nigel Farage MP@Nigel_Farage

If you vote Reform you will not have an illegal migrant deportation facility in your area. We will hold migrants awaiting deportation in constituencies that vote Green instead. You get what you vote for.

@Sargon_of_Akkad Time will tell Carl, you haven't noticed Reform have been polling number 1 in the UK for years now? Guess will see how well received in elections next week. In other news you can't even vote for Restore next week, beyond pathetic.

Add VAT onto everything we buy and it’s a wonder anyone can make any money at all. The money goes round and round the economy and the govt is squeezing money out at every node. This was fine when tax payers significantly outnumbered the benefit recipients (state pension etc) but those days are good and gone.

@Sargon_of_Akkad @RupertLowe10 Very clever politics. There's a reason Reform are polling number 1 in the UK for years now. Nigel's playing a clever game and it's clearly working. Will see more evidence of this in the elections next week - save the tweet. Meanwhile where's Ruperts Reform? Not even standing.

It is a property purchase. Property is an interest in land that grants the proprietor of the interest or "estate in land" rights over the use of said property as well as the burdens and responsibility that come with it for a time period. Unfortunately, people consider the purchase of property or the ownership of property to be owning the land similar to Allodial Title - whereby you own the land without any superior owner above you - but this can only be the case with say sovereign ownership or else regulations, taxes, laws would not apply. Leasehold is a property purchase. However its a purchase of property that comes with burdens and benefits as does freehold. This is not mis-selling like PPI whereby the sellers of would either not provide full information on the product or add it to the service without notifying or sell you something on the basis that it will do x when in reality it does not - that mis-selling. On a property purchase the title deeds will outline the rights and burdens of purchasing the property - nothing has changed mid ownership and your legal representative should outline these rights and responsibilities.

Any buyer of a leasehold who was told it was a property purchase was mis-sold. Just like Personal Pensions mis-selling.

Yep. And the ECHR is not really an issue either given freeholders will still be compensated for enfranchisement.
Citizen of Nowhere ✪@CitznOfNowhere

@FreeLeasehlders @HarryScoffin Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Parliament is sovereign, but the legal hurdles are a convenient excuse for a government that wants to protect the system. This is why people lose faith in politicians.

@mtpennycook @instituteforgov Endless LIEs by labour no other way to put it. Labour literally said end leasehold within 100 days of being elected, they got in and have stalled even what was passed in parliament in wash up.

The outright abolition of leasehold overnight is almost certainly impossible and we won’t pretend otherwise. But this Labour government is bringing the feudal leasehold system to an orderly end in this Parliament. My @instituteforgov keynote speech 👇🏻 gov.uk/government/spe…

@proptechpioneer Leasehold flats are a toxic buy. No sympathy for developers who kept peddling them. A great opening for market disruptors willing to sell flats with RMCs and share of freehold for democratic resident control of service charges. No need to wait for commonhold 2 from Parliament.

I have been saying this is coming for a since 2019 - don't expect meaningful development in London before 2030 (at the earliest). Taylor Wimpey is phasing out the delivery of new build flats in London....

@HarryScoffin @FreeLeasehlders @SimonMagus Leasehold always been horrid but now service charges being higher than the mortgage in some cases - Insane! Complete lack of transparency on service charge accounts with pathetic legal system freeholders ignore. Google any freeholder it's endless 1 star reviews nothing done.

@SimonMagus The nature of freeholders changed from early 2000s property boom. Leasehold went from being a crude tool for organising flats to an investment asset class in other people’s homes. Look up the securitisation of ground rent, the Tchenguiz brothers and Long Harbour/Help to Buy.

We had a leasehold system for, what, 700 years largely without problem or dispute. Much of the best places in Central London were created using leasehold tenure. What changed? What went wrong? Nobody seems to be able to answer the question.
Matt Lismore@MattLismore

This is a total and utter capitulation. Millions of leaseholders being decimated by developers, freeholders, “social housing” companies and local authorities put their trust in you, in us as a party. “End the feudal leasehold system” that was the promise. A shameful U-turn that violates a key manifesto pledge. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Most sensible parties (I don’t count the loony Greens) agree that Shabana Mahmood’s plan to extend the length of time it takes the Boriswave immigrants to achieve Indefinite Leave to Remain is a good one. But which of them go even further? My recent conversation with Connor Tomlinson was interesting because of how unabashed he was that this country SHOULD NOT adapt to recent demographic changes. Not adaptation, but reversal, is the policy of Restore, he says. Can it work?
