According to my friend @ranjeetnature this is happening in an Eco Sensitive Zone on the boundary of SGNP, Mumbai. Debris being dumped, green is becoming grey, @AshwiniBhide mam as the chair of ESZ, I request you to take immediate action against the perpetrators. In my opinion dumping of debris in ESZ isn’t permitted.

Hon’ble CM @Dev_Fadnavis, It is painful to see the Maharashtra Government finally deciding to destroy Mulund — once known as one of Mumbai’s most planned and beautiful suburbs. After electing all 6 corporators and the local MLA from the ruling party, Mulundkars now feel betrayed. Salt pan lands meant for natural drainage are being opened for commercial towers and massive rehabilitation projects, putting unbearable pressure on infrastructure and increasing the risk of flooding. Sadly, residents now have no option but to live with this decision — or hope for a change in government so that this disastrous policy is reversed. We thank journalist @sameerreporter Sameer Surve and @mumbaimirror Mumbai Mirror for bringing these facts before the public. @VarshaEGaikwad @AUThackeray @SDPatil_16 @BJP4Mumbai @Shivsenaofc @ShivSenaUBT_ @INCMumbai #MulundMatters #SaltPanLand #UrbanFlooding #DharaviRehabilitation

Workers? Allegedly hired by @mybmcWardHW to clean drains before the monsoon . Can’t see any supervision. Instead, there’s noise and filth, directly outside a large residential building. @mybmc @MumbaiPolice @AshwiniBhide

Madness and greed has no limit. The man who proposed this needs to be in prison, if he is of sane mind. Otherwise needs help. To even think of proposing that Sanjay Gandhi National Park can have university and housing for 5 lakh people! What’s this obsession with environment vandalism? What’s this hate for our planet? We Mumbaikars don’t want it! Don’t touch our forests and ruin our city.

The complete dewatering of Bandra Talao has exposed what many of us have been highlighting for long. The emptied lake clearly shows no major sewage inflow channels from surrounding areas, while natural springs continue to remain active even after dewatering. What was actually lacking for decades was proper circulation and continuous aeration of the water, which led to stagnation and the greening of the lake. If this core issue is not addressed, then even after spending ₹15 crore of public money, we may end up seeing the same situation repeat itself a few years later. @mybmc @mybmcInfra track record unfortunately has often been stronger on spending on big-ticket projects than ensuring regular maintenance and sustained upkeep. Restoration must focus on solving the root cause, not just expensive interventions. @mybmcWardHW @INCMumbai #BandraTalao #Mumbai

Earlier this week, walked around the popular 7.5-acre Bandra Talao, a Grade II heritage lake that has been completely dewatered for the first time in recent memory at least as a part of a rejuvenation attempt by the civic body. The urban waterbody is now a vast stretch of exposed mudflats and heavy silt deposits, with excavation machinery and pumps working through the remaining patches of sludge. Officials said the exercise marks phase one of the lake’s restoration, involving complete dewatering followed by systematic desilting. More below 👇🏻 timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/mumbai/bm…

@TawdeRitu Nagrana Lane Bandra has become a daily hotspot for public drinking and alleged open drug peddling. Families and children pass through this area every day. Immediate action and increased patrolling are urgently needed. #Bandra #Mumbai #PublicSafety

The complete dewatering of Swami Vivekanand Sarovar #BandraTalao @mybmcWardHW has now exposed some uncomfortable truths - exactly the concerns repeatedly raised earlier. The emptied talao clearly shows there is no major sewerage connectivity flowing into the lake from surrounding areas, despite this being used as one of the justifications for costly interventions. What is now visible is equally important, the natural springs remain active even after complete dewatering, with water still percolating into the talao. This raises serious concerns, during desilting and dredging, what safeguards exist to protect these natural springs?? Any damage could permanently alter the talao’s ecology and even risk drying up this historic water body in future. If sewer inflow was not the real issue, was an expensive Sewerage Treatment Plant even required ? The declining water quality perhaps had more to do with decades of stagnation and lack of continuous aeration/oxygenation. Could sustained aeration have solved the issue at one-third the cost ? Sadly @mybmc often appears more focused on awarding big-ticket contracts than practical, sustainable solutions. Bigger question is after completion, who will maintain and operate this STP ?? Given @mybmc @mybmcInfra poor maintenance track record, will this become yet another expensive white elephant funded by taxpayers ?? Mumbaikars deserve answers. All these concerns were repeatedly raised... #Bandra #BandraTalao #Mumbai #BMC

Bandra Talao @mybmc proposes to de-water the entire Talao without any scientific study could be detrimental to the natural water springs and the existing aquatic life...

Every year it’s the same: drains get “cleaned,” silt is left on the road, and the next rain washes it back in. Why isn’t the contractor disposing of it properly? Please fix the process, not just repeat it. @mybmc @mayor_mumbai @mybmcWardHW
