This is sad. I know as a politician these companies are going to spend a billion dollars against me for saying it but 🤷🏽‍♀️ Pervasive gambling is not good for society. It turns life into a casino, traps people in addiction & debt, surges domestic violence, and fosters manipulation.

I have a happy family, a good job that helps people, two degrees, 19 acres of land, another 200 family-owned riddled with nature trails, a raised-bed garden, a wife who's into me, and half a pound of bud in the basement. The meaning of my life is to seek peace and joy. But I guess I'm just a loser.

I still find it funny that not one single member of CCR was from the southern United States. Every one of them was born and raised in the El Cerrito area of San Francisco. Literally Californian college yuppies larping as southerners. Weird, huh?

@adrianmckinty The James Jones novel is outstanding and of a totally different tone than the film, even if the later direct quotes from it, you get a very different experience between the two. Actually liked the film a great deal. Two totally different pieces of art.

I really think guys need to “care less” but still be casually engaged in hanging out with women and mixed friend groups. Everytime I ever came off as being happy but basically indifferent to women that’s when they’re suddenly interested. Of course, that was the 90s, I’ve been married for over 20 years. So maybe that’s invalid advice now?

My boy is 6’1, in insane shape (1:27 NYC half), good job, actually funny… and has completely tapped out of dating. Got his heart broken once a year ago and just never came back the same. Hasn’t been on a date or done anything in like 8 months. Now it’s just video games, bars with the boys, and “it is what it is.” He refuses to talk to women when out, says dating apps are “cooked” (not wrong), and basically just thinks women are the issue. I’ve tried to help several times, but what can we do?

This meme annoys the fuck out of me because it misunderstands invisible labour as stupidity. Women don’t ask “roughly when will you be home?” because we think you can predict the future. We ask because someone has to organise dinner, childcare, and the rest of the household around your absence.

The people who call obesity “laziness” often mistake genetic luck for moral superiority. GLP-1 therapies simply correct the biology of appetite they were lucky enough to inherit. Their metabolism isn’t the problem — their lack of empathy is.

@drterrysimpson GLP-1s are going to bite a lot of people in the ass. It’s one thing to use it if your choice is ‘take this medication or be strangulated by diabetic fat rolls and sugar shock.’ I don’t like the long term odds for people using to go from some extra padding to skinny.

“Eat less and move more” has been the advice for decades. Long-term success rate for severe obesity with diet and exercise alone: about 2–4%. If that worked reliably, we wouldn’t have spent 30 years developing GLP-1 therapies. And to the health coaches, low-carb influencers with supplement checkout lanes, and gym bros: the gym and good training absolutely matter. But shaming people with obesity and shouting “work harder” isn’t treatment. Stay in your lane. Medicine exists for a reason.
