We seek to understand our opponents' motivations not merely out of charity, but because there is value in learning; because we might better understand how to argue them to our position or away from theirs; and because we are merely human, and iron sharpens iron.

It’s time to block this account. They manipulated the clip so that you don’t know he’s quoting someone and condemning the thoughts of the quote. This is dishonesty and it’s dishonesty geared towards stirring up peoples hatreds.

@CrownMaybe Honestly, I'm just finding new games to play. There's too many options out there now that I don't have to suffer through what DnD, MtG, and WoW have become.

Y'know, the account of a very minor political party that wants to attract voters who otherwise tend to agree with it would be well-advised to actually watch the video before boldly and forthrightly offering non sequiturs.

Thank you, prime minister, for presenting such a clear framing. If the choice is the way of Genghis Khan or the way of Jesus Christ, we choose Christ. May we have the strength and courage to to follow the Jesus over the powers and principalities.

@CarlLake867 @IzaBooboo @DocSupafly It remains wrong. I heard enough of, “But that’s what it means now!” from my daughters. No. This is not Orwell’s 1984. Words mean things.

@IzaBooboo Wait, cashews are good; and also, "there are no stupid questions" led to one of the greatest commercials of all time.

Whatever else may be said, he was attributing this quote/concept to Will Durant (whose line was about the universe and its fundamentally amoral nature but used Christ and Genghis Khan to make the point) to make a larger point.

Netanyahu: It is not enough to be moral. It is not enough to be just. "Jesus Christ has no advantage over Genghis Khan. If you are strong enough, ruthless enough, and powerful enough, evil will overcome good."

Interestingly, equating "the Jewish people" to "the state of Israel" leads to both disgusting antisemitism AND an inability to critique Israeli actions.

He is summarizing an argument/quote made by Will Durant in “The Lessons of History” about the brutality of life on earth and the need to confront evil. Agree with that sentiment or not, he’s not making the claim being quoted. C’mon, folks.

It's a trend. He used to talk about the Military-Industrial Complex and how the sheer amount of money it makes creates all sorts of dangerous incentives. He'd talk a lot about Ukraine, because I'm pretty sure that's what led to his firing from Fox. He'd bring Macgregor on, bring Sachs on, talk about Ukrainian Nazis at the Canadian Parliament, ask about why the heck we had biolabs in Ukraine, etc. But at some point his "I will talk about the things I'm not allowed to talk about" rebel streak kicked in about AIPAC. And the more politicians like Ted Cruz bellowed when he'd point out the frankly ludicrous things politicians would say at AIPAC conferences, it caused him to get dug in. But the pivot really kicked in with Gaza. Tucker had a spiritual awakening in recent years, going from an effectively secular Christian with familial ties to a mainline protestant church, to being a sort of self-taught Bible-based Christian. The same stuff you also see from Russell Brand ("So a protestant then," I'm sure you're thinking) While Tucker was always a sort of NAP libertarian anti-interventionist guy on foreign policy (though pro-life so not a standard Libertarian), this new thinking in him has caused him to become a major pacifist. If military action in any way risks hitting civilians, to him it's just evil, no matter what. And so to him, the Gaza operations conducted by the IDF were deeply, deeply immoral and un-Christian. I don't think he believes in the concept of a Just War at all. And so it really, really offends him that the US would be giving 6 billion a year of military aid to the IDF to be doing this, in a way that he perceives as in our name. So now he's convinced that the reason the US keeps doing these things is that people are being manipulated into violating Christian values by a foreign power. Christian Zionism deeply baffles him, as witnessed by the interview with Mike Huckabee where the two completely talked past each other. So now he's left trying to reconcile Trump as the courageous hero who took a bullet to the head to save America, with his mental model of US policy with Israel, and he's in limbo right now.

I personally have serious doubts about Tucker's theories that Trump is somehow being tricked or blackmailed.
