@CryptiMike1 I'm speaking about indie game journos. They indeed do get paid to do their job (that they chose), which is to play and review games. I'm not speaking about the average consumer. An indie journo just doesn't have a boss and is an independent contractor or entrepreneur

It's not credible to make fun of someone for being bad at something when you yourself are equally bad or worse at such a thing. At least be halfway decent at playing video games if you're going to dunk on traditional media for being bad at playing games.

@ChrisRGun @GenePark Sigh. My point was that gamers lost respect for corporate journalists because of the various reasons I listed, and no longer trust them. Not sure how the year is a relevant rebuttal to my argument.

Not to dogpile (I’ve seen Luke’s stuff, he seems chill) but the “game journalists are bad at games” joke was a lot funnier BEFORE I saw all the clips of people who make those jokes also playing like doo doo pee dirt water.

There’s a huge community, and tons of very popular content creators. Challenge runs, speed runs, reactions, and lore videos, all from content creators, not journos.

This attitude absolutely reeks.
I've been to enough press events now to have seen the pendulum swing the other way. More often, it's content creators struggling, not the journalists from big outlets. But who honestly cares?
Do your own thing, stop worrying about others.

You can’t know if you do or do not like something if you have no personal experience with it.
Hating a game/movie/album you’ve never played/watched/heard is NPC behavior. You’re literally wearing someone else’s opinion as your own and it’s not substantive or interesting.

@AshenOne I’m a PlayStation loyalist who’s been in the PS ecosystem since ‘96. And no, exclusives don’t matter to me. I could care less about where other people play games. Whatever is best to facilitate good games for me to play while sitting on my couch, that’s what I care about.

@G27Status @SynthPotato I joined the IP day one, and loved every game until Black Flag, where it started to feel stale. I missed a bunch of titles, then came back for Valhalla. It wasn’t bad, but it was too dense a game and I couldn’t finish it, and I admittedly missed the og style.

@SynthPotato I dunno. The counter kills were so easy throughout the entire series that it trivialized the stealth since it felt like it was impossible to die. To be fair, the RPG combat isn't a great rethinking either. Feels like the series has been stuck in that aspect for a while.

For the record, nowhere in here did I say Ben Johnson was a bad coach. Also, this has been my take since January 2024. Long before Johnson was even a candidate for the Bears. So it’s not a “Lions fan being upset about Johnson going to Chicago.” It’s about me thinking he’s a better coach. I’m sorry. I’m not crowning anyone after a year.
