Hi @DerrickNka81563 Exactly. This is a classic professional heist: Get the tender Pretend to have capacity Invoice massive amounts Get paid Disappear R56 million down the drain, project abandoned and vandalised. This "don't care" attitude has become the ANC's standard modus operandi. The DA will keep exposing it and demanding investigations and accountability. Residents deserve better than this organised looting. 💙 #LetsFixEkurhuleni DA GPL

@DA_GPL This is pathetic. Professional heist, get a contract, pretend like you have capacity, claim big amount, get paid and run forever. Thats the modus operandi!!!!! Don't care attitude.

Hi Zemveli, Exactly! This is our tax money being wasted and looted. R56 million spent, 8 years later, the project is abandoned and vandalised, while thousands of families still wait for houses. This is what happens when the ANC treats public funds as their own. The DA will keep exposing it and demanding accountability. Thank you for speaking out. 💙 #LetsFixEkurhuleni DA GPL

Hi Rika, Exactly. R56 million of our tax money wasted, and 8 years later the project is abandoned and vandalised. While families desperately wait for houses, the ANC treats public funds like it grows on trees. This is a total disgrace. The DA will keep exposing this looting and demanding accountability. Thank you for speaking out. 💙 #LetsFixEkurhuleni DA GPL

@HermanHG The frustration is completely understandable. This abandoned R56 million housing project is yet another example of the ANC treating public money as their personal piggy bank while residents suffer. The DA cannot recall or de-register them — only the voters can do that. That’s why we are working flat out for 2026 — to give people the chance to remove this failing government and bring in real accountability. Let’s drain the swamp the right way: at the ballot box. 💙 #LetsFixEkurhuleni #DrainTheSwamp2026 DA GPL

@Judaeda3 We agree, this looks like fraud. The DA has already conducted oversight and will: Table formal questions in Council and the Legislature this week Demand a full forensic investigation into the R56 million Push for criminal charges (fraud & corruption) where evidence exists R56 million wasted while 283,000 people wait for housing is completely unacceptable. We will keep the pressure on until action is taken. 💙 #LetsFixEkurhuleni DA GPL

We can’t catch and convict criminals or clean up our streets if SAPS doesn’t have working vehicles. 🚔 Today we conducted oversight at the SAPS garage to assess the state of police vehicles and the impact it has on fighting crime in our communities. Communities deserve a police service that is properly equipped and able to respond when residents need help. We will continue this fight for accountability, safer streets and a justice system that works. 🇿🇦💙 #CommunitySafety #SAPS #Oversight #TakeBackOurCity YouTube: youtu.be/BA23ncww-yw

@napemoholola We don’t just post videos and go home. Today’s oversight visit is part of ongoing action. The DA has already: Raised this abandoned R56+ million project in the Ekurhuleni Council Will table formal questions this week demanding a full forensic investigation Pushed for SIU and Public Protector involvement where corruption is suspected We are holding the ANC-led council accountable and will continue until this project is completed or those responsible face consequences. If you have additional evidence of corruption on this or any other project, please send it to us. We take these cases seriously. #LetsFixEkurhuleni 💙 DA GPL

@DA_GPL What annoys me is that you guys post pictures/ videos and go back home? Post pictures of where you filed a corruption case with the police or where you wrote to SIU and Public Protector to investigate this. Hold corrupt officials accountable! Cc @geordinhl @helenzille @Our_DA

Hi Stefan, I completely understand why you feel sad and angry. The Life Esidimeni tragedy was an unforgivable failure that cost 144 innocent lives. Now, years later, we are seeing the same department failing to pay NGOs caring for over 2,500 mental health patients. This puts extremely vulnerable people at risk again. It is deeply frustrating and heartbreaking. The DA, through Dr Jack Bloom MPL, will continue to demand urgent payment to these NGOs and proper oversight so that we never allow another Esidimeni to happen. Your anger is justified. We share it and are fighting to stop this neglect. 💙 DA GPL

Hi @LilsDjangs, You are absolutely right to be outraged. The Life Esidimeni tragedy was a crime against humanity, 144 vulnerable mental health patients died in 2016 because of reckless, callous decisions by the Gauteng Health Department. It was preventable and utterly indefensible. Almost a decade later, the lack of real accountability (with very few people actually facing justice) remains a national disgrace. The DA, through Dr Jack Bloom MPL, has fought for justice for the families from day one and will continue to do so. We are also sounding the alarm right now because the current non-payment to NGOs looking after mental health patients risks repeating the same deadly mistakes. This must stop. Vulnerable patients cannot be treated as disposable. We stand with you on this. 💙 DA GPL

@annize69 You’re right. It’s not only the Department of Health failing to pay NGOs, but the Department of Social Development is doing the same. Many NGOs caring for vulnerable children, the elderly, and people with disabilities are also left unpaid for months. This is putting huge pressure on organisations that are often doing the work the government should be doing. The DA is calling on both departments to pay outstanding amounts urgently and to treat NGOs as proper partners, not afterthoughts. Non-payment to those on the frontline must stop. 💙 DA GPL

@havdh4024 We agree exposing the problem is not enough. We must take action. The DA has already: • Conducted oversight today & documented the failures • Will table questions in Ekurhuleni Council & Gauteng Legislature this week • Demanded a full forensic investigation into the R56+ million wasted • Pushed for SIU & Public Protector involvement We don’t just post videos. We use them as evidence to hold people accountable. @Khathutshelo_R Rasilingwane MPL and the team will keep following up until this project is completed and those responsible face consequences. Send us any additional evidence you have. We take this seriously. #LetsFixEkurhuleni 💙 DA GPL
