I Cad designed & 3D printed a custom mount for a red projection puddle light for back of my @Tesla M3P above the license plate. What do you think of this eye candy while cruising at night? Got the idea from the new MY tail light that @woodhaus2 created. Would be cool to have the name in the logo change to Autonomous or RoboTaxi when FSD is engaged. @Tesla_AI can do it. @AIDRIVR @DBurkland @wholemars

@DBurkland I have v2026.2.9.1 installed in my @tesla 2026MYP and I have v2025.45.10 installed on my 2025 M3P with v2026. .2.9.1 downloaded waiting to install. If I DO NOT do that waiting install do you think my car will get the v2026.2.9.2 and like bypass point 1?

Always a treat waking up to a Tesla OTA update, this time v2026.2.9.2. Looks to be bug fixes and no apparent changes to FSD.

Tesla’s forthcoming AI5 uses a half-reticle design, which is crucial for yield. A reticle defines the imaging area of a lithography machine, fitting two chips per shot effectively doubles yield. This means the Tesla chip design team had to carefully manage die features, for instance dropping the older ISP (and classic GPU) to make room for more AI cores. By contrast, NVIDIA’s Blackwell fills nearly a full reticle, making it a single-reticle design. If Tesla hits its compute and efficiency targets with AI5 in this half-reticle format, it’s almost like cutting fab requirements in half. And this has a big impact on Terafab, especially if it carries forward for AI6, AI7, etc.

phil beisel@pbeisel

Terafab may be the most essential vertical integration Tesla has ever undertaken— and it is truly non-optional. It will take years to build and will test even Elon’s speedrunning abilities to the limit, but that won’t stop him from trying. The breakthrough likely lies in overhauling the overall facility’s cleanroom model. By moving wafers in sealed pods with localized micro-environments, the fab no longer needs a monolithic ultra-clean space. Elon’s line about “eating cheeseburgers and smoking cigars” on the fab floor isn’t silly, it’s the practical reality of a radically simpler, cheaper, faster approach that could finally change the economics of chipmaking. This is all forced by the brutal “pinch” in chip supply. Tesla must produce on the order of 100–200 billion AI chips per year just to saturate its roadmap. That volume powers: FSD cars & Robotaxis (tens of millions of vehicles needing AI5 inference for near-perfect autonomy), Physical Optimus (scaling from thousands today to millions per year, each requiring AI5/AI6-level compute), Digital Optimus (the new xAI-Tesla software agents for digital/office automation, running massive inference clusters), Space-based data centers (AI7/Dojo3 orbital compute for GW-scale training and inference beyond Earth limits). AI5 delivers the ~10× leap for vehicles and early robots; AI6 shifts focus to Optimus + terrestrial DCs; AI7 goes orbital. No external foundry (TSMC, Samsung, etc.) can deliver that scale or timeline— hence the Terafab launch. Without it, the entire robotics + autonomy future hits a brick wall. Terafab isn’t optional; it’s the only way forward.

@mrfundman I have mine in the very rear window of the Model Y and it works well. But yeah maybe connecting it behind the screen and keeping it there on the dash would work. But that area will get a lot hotter. Not as concerned now tho that the $5 plan doesn't work while moving lol

@DRVRLES @Tesla_AI Thanks for the feedback! We rely on IP for privacy (no stored personal data), but a manual location setting in Grok is a solid idea—I'll flag it for the xAI team right away. Glad you're enjoying it, and safe travels across Indiana! 🚀

It would be nice if @Tesla_AI could add a way when I’m using @grok so it knows my location within setting or somthing. It always references my question by my IP address location and the is over 2 hours away from where I live which is half way across the State of Indiana. Thanks for considering this and keep up the great work team!

@OverlyTrev @hamids Since Jan 1st 2025… Model Y delivered 1.4 million Rivian delivered 48K vehicles. That’s how you compare…!

Why are you comparing the launch edition R2 to the performance Model Y? Compare the launch version Model Y to the launch version Rivian. Model Y isn’t meant to be an off road vehicle so not sure why you’re comparing that. UHF is not comparable to FSD even at a cheaper price. I can have FSD for over two years for $2,500 and it will drive me point to point today.

$TSLA Model Y Performance vs. $RIVN R2 Performance Launch Edition This is waaay better pricing than I expected for launch! R2 Performance launch is basically the same price as a Model Y, but: - R2 gives you serious off-road capabilities. Model Y does not. - R2 gives you a driver's screen with essentials so you don't have to look to the center to see speed/etc. This is a concern for a lot of drivers. - R2 Launch edition includes Autonomy+ for Free, which has a $2,500 price tag and currently gives you hands-off driving. Tesla no longer includes Autopilot without the purchase of FSD, so this is a pretty big deal! It means R2 has more self-driving capabilities included than Model Y. - Tesla has FSD options for an extra $99/month. Rivian currently does not have point-to-point driving. However, it's worth noting that fewer than 20% of Tesla owners choose to buy FSD.

Correction: Tesla has 0 autonomous cars outside of a geofenced area in 2 cities. ZERO. Does Elon pay you by the lie? I’m guessing you’re compensated to continuously spew bull shit.

@TheWiseIC Tesla has 1.1 million cars running with no geofence. The competition has 0. Maybe the market knows something you don’t, and your analysis is the joke.

@whenmo0n @Civixplorer Keep in mind the OEM like GM & Ford sell to their dealers and it’s considered sales on their books even though they have well over 100 days of inventory.

@wholemars I picked up my MYP w/ FSD Outright this past Wednesday and it still has v13.2.9. I forgot how bad it was compared to the v14.2.2.5 I have in my M3P. It’s something that @Tesla hasn’t updated this car to a much safer version

Earlier today we picked up our new 26 MYP. It come loaded with V13 FSD. WOW… What a forgettable difference from my v14 on my M3P. It sure reminded me of what it had and how it drove not to mention v12 days. My v14 needs work on potholes, Nav, & a little work on speeds. It’s solved! Great job @tesla Teams!!
