@LDS_Dems They don't just walk up at a red light in disguise. They use emergency lights and sirens to initiate a vehicle stop. If you choose to physically resist a vehicle extraction by armed men with flashing lights, you're operating on movie logic, not the legal system.

The year is 1985. It hasn’t rained a drop in Ethiopia for over a year. In a morning meeting, an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ, M Russell Ballard, invokes the very elements by the power of the Holy Melchizedek Priesthood. There’s a torrential downpour later that afternoon.

Let me get this straight: An impoverished, uneducated teenage farmer... Crafted a theological masterpiece answering virtually all creedal Christianity's problems without having read the Bible cover to cover... Embedded that theology dissertation in a Tolkein-quality narrative with internally consistent geography and an intricate nested history of over 1,000 years... Formed that narrative into different poetic and literary devices, including ancient poetic structures and scribal practices he somehow knew about that wouldn't be discovered until centuries later... Accurately simulated many different authorial voices better than 99% of authors today in a way we can pick up in stylometric analysis... Made scores of predictions about ancient America that seemed ludicrous at the time but he somehow knew would be validated over the centuries to come (and the evidence continues to grow each year)... Made astronomically unlikely true "guesses" about ancient America such that statistical odds of getting them right is the same as picking the right *atom* out of the universe on the first try... Did this planning, scheming, and lucky guessing all in his head without writing a word of it in advance... Memorized 531 pages in his head and dictated the whole thing without any materials over 65 working days in the presence of witnesses... All while he expertly crafted metal plates with metalworking talent he was never taught, using obscene amounts of expensive metal he couldn't afford, to deceive a dozen people who saw/held them... And while he claimed to receive revelations from God and built a Church that become the fastest growing religion in the world and lead to better measurable outcomes for its participants than any other lifestyle... Somehow kept all this conspiracy and planning from the knowledge of his large family living in their 2-room cabin... And he simultaneously deluded HIMSELF in real time into honestly believing he was inspired to the point that when he was willing to die for the fake faith he created, even turning to the fake book he himself had written to find comfort as he prepared to enter the presence of God... And he promised people if they would believe in Christ and study his fake book God would reveal it to them, and somehow fabricates the voice of God to them *from beyond the grave.* But sure, "God inspired Joseph" is the far-fetched explanation for the Book of Mormon. 🤣
Theboss . . the LORD JESUS died for our sins.@bossjr450

@ITalkOfChrist It was a cleverly devised fable which would have taken time and not dictated in real time. I’m sure he sat and thought much about.

@JackMoCoalition Communism and Islam are the two greatest threats to our way of life. Communism is a radical religion disguises itself as a political ideology and Islam is a radical ideology that disguises itself as a religion. Both are evil.

Yes all Muslims. No there are no such things as "Moderate Muslims" they'd gladly sit back and let the "extremists" rape your daughter and behead your son for simply being Christian. Just because they wouldn't personally do it, doesn't mean they don't condone it.

@HwsEleutheroi @Lets_Talk_HC Why should anyone choose Calvinism over any other sect in Christianity? Why should we trust your interpretation of scripture more than the Catholics or anyone else for that matter?

I have yet to see any substantive or even direct response from Hayden Carroll to the refutation of his past cavils. Of course, I might have just missed them. But here is another gross misrepresentation from a man who doesn't even have a god to begin with. Oh, I know, he calls a particular exalted man a "god," but that exalted man had a god before him, and that god had a god before him, and all of these "gods" are just exalted men to begin with. So, he has no one to look to to answer the questions that must be answered when we speak of theodicy. But Mormonism has no theodicy because Mormonism has no god who is the ground of all being who can then be asked, "Why?" The god of Joseph Smith was subject to external forces that shaped him, his character, even his choices. There can be no ultimate answers in his system, so it is pretty cheeky of him to be rolling out this kind of rhetoric against the "creedal god" as he likes to say. But, let's correct his many errors. God never created anyone "for the purpose of going to hell." God created all things for the purpose of the demonstration of His glory, both in the judgment of the wicked, and in the redemption of the unworthy recipients of grace. He created all things for the demonstration of all of His attributes to the entire universe. Just punishment is part of the demonstration of His holiness and justice, and every person who enters into that punishment does so justly, not because they wanted something other. Indeed, I have said many times, if you were to reach into hell 10,000 years into eternity, grab a person who is undergoing punishment, bring them out, sit them down, and give them the choice: love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind, or return to where you just were, every single person, without exception, would stand, spit toward the throne of God, and run as fast as they can right back into the outer darkness. There is an anthropological reason for this that we could discuss, but given Mormonism not only does not have a true god, it likewise has no biblical view of man (Adam fell "upward"), and hence, as I said last week, has no seat at the table of this discussion. Next, notice the twisted words, "literally wants certain people to go to hell." Again, Carroll cares nothing about accuracy or convincing those on the other side. This is all about emotions and clicks. He knows that most of his readers will default to the "innocent human beings being bullied by that evil Calvinist god" foolishness. He is writing for biblically illiterate people who have never sat and pondered Romans 9, or Genesis 50, or Isaiah 10 (which is why, when I invited him to discuss this two weeks ago, I posted Isaiah 10 and...got no response). He hopes his reader will see this vast ocean of equally innocent people being abused by Calvin's God, rather than recognizing that what is really being objected to here is God's freedom to grant grace to whom He wills, rather than to whom we think he must. Again, he has no real god in this situation, so it makes sense that he would go this direction. But for Christians, the issue is always "why would God ever be gracious," not "why won't God save everyone"?

Pray for Hayden... his pride in the face of God is concerning. Hayden said on a recent podcast that he would ask God some questions about how he chose to do things. You will never get to the day of judgment and ask God anything. You'll bow the knee. Who are you Hayden to speak back to God? Will Hayden, who was molded say to his molder, "why have you made me like this?" Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use? What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory. Humble yourself before your creator. Your creator who says "There is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose." Proverbs 16:4 “The Lord has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble.”
Let’s Talk w/ Hayden Carroll@Lets_Talk_HC

If you know someone you love is suicidal, should you give them the means to kill themselves? Give them the gun/rope, take them to the bridge, etc? Of course not. So why does the creedal god freely create people it knows will go to hell, when it doesn’t have to? Why does it freely give them the means to commit spiritual suicide when it knows they will, and it doesn’t have to? Why does it freely create a person who it knows will experience eternal conscious torment, when it doesn’t have to? Can you really say it loves that person? Did it really will that persons greatest good when it freely chose to create them? Does a being who loves another freely give them the means to effectively commit suicide? Either the creedal god doesn’t will the greatest good for every person, or the attributes the creedal tradition has assigned to God are grossly miscalculated. Make it make sense. If God is the greatest conceivable being, then the creedal god can’t be God, because I can conceive of a much more loving God than it. I can conceive of a God who doesn’t freely and knowingly give anyone the means to enter into eternal conscious torment.
