After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby. It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC. May God bless America.

@DuncanMonserud Don't bring a pillow to a knife fight.

READ every word of this. It's the best & most comprehensive explanation of what we're fighting. @DefiyantlyFree

BREAKING: Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo just left NRG Stadium after coming to review surveillance video of the incident that resulted in her removal from the Megan Moroney concert earlier this week. She told reporters the video didn’t clearly show what happened when she was engaged with Rodeo security but she could see her guests. She also didn’t see any footage from the county suite. She added that the Rodeo should take measures to have better security cameras in the chute area for public safety reasons. “We’ve done all we can do,” the judge said, appreciating those who have called for transparency. She would not answer my question about whether this has caused a distraction from the Rodeo and for Harris County residents. Law enforcement escorted her to a black SUV before her exit.

There’s a huge risk in even beginning the process, too (as proponents of the talking filibuster have been calling for). Sen. Mike Lee and other conservatives have primed the GOP base to believe it’s possible to sustain a talking filibuster as a way to pass the SAVE America Act. Sure, that’s technically true. But as Thune pointed out here, it’s never been successful. And Thune has continued to maintain that there isn’t enough GOP support for tabling all Democratic amendments, which is the only way to ensure that the bill can pass as-is — even putting aside Trump’s demand for more provisions to be added to it. When it ultimately fails, will Lee & other proponents just throw up their hands and move on? I doubt it. The base will be pissed, and that could get ugly for GOP leaders.

I'm a Texan, and I don't eat any of this junk. I'm also not aware of anyone else who does—the closest I've ever heard of as a signature Texan breakfast is Texas toast, and even then, I don't know anyone who eats it. Texas is a big state, so it's easy to overgeneralize, but this? Tell me steak, BBQ, or Whataburger are Texan, and then I'll believe you.

Free and fair elections are the cornerstone of our democracy. As doubt is cast on their legitimacy and public trust erodes, we would do well to avoid partisan reforms that sound good on paper but may work very differently in the real world, especially if the result would be a system that works for many but not all Alaskans. adn.com/opinions/2026/…

CENTCOM Update TAMPA, Fla. – As of 9:30 am ET, March 1, three U.S. service members have been killed in action and five are seriously wounded as part of Operation Epic Fury. Several others sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions — and are in the process of being returned to duty. Major combat operations continue and our response effort is ongoing. The situation is fluid, so out of respect for the families, we will withhold additional information, including the identities of our fallen warriors, until 24 hours after next of kin have been notified.

AOC came to Munich to warn about the far-right. Coverage focused on 2028 & verbal missteps. She gave me a call. "Everyone’s got this story wrong, that this is about me running for president," she said. "Global democracies are on fire the world over." nytimes.com/2026/02/16/us/…
