I can give you three reasons for this, that have NOTHING to do with whatever money he may or may not be trying to hold on to. I'm not about to speculate on things I don't know about, so I'm leaving that alone. 1. As has been stated by many on this app, Curtis Sliwa did NOT lose his primary. That's first and foremost. Andrew Cuomo, on the other hand, lost and lost BADLY to Zohran Mamdani. Furthermore, it matters not that Sliwa ran unopposed; it is not HIS fault that the local Republican Party wasn't interested in recruiting or running better candidates than him. It's no secret that the New York Republican Party exists solely as the national GOP's personal ATM, to extract money from donors in this state for distribution to "winnable" races across the country, effectively surrendering this state and our TWENTY-NINE electoral college votes to the Democrats. A great example of this would be the campaign of Athena Clarke (@Clarke4Council), a Black woman running for City Council in Brooklyn. 2. Furthermore, people have VISCERAL memories of what happened in their lives in the eleven years Andrew Cuomo was Governor of this state. Most of them, frankly, are NOT good. People still remember how it felt to be caught up in the greatest upward transfer of wealth in human history, as their small businesses got decimated. People remember losing their elderly loved ones in nursing homes during the pandemic. They remember Cuomo's daily briefings and CNN hits with his brother Chris. They also remember how Cuomo tried writing a self-fellating book celebrating his own leadership on top of that. Cops and firefighters got their entire lives turned upside-down by anti-human COVID mandates, their careers were snatched from them in the name of "public health." Many of these poor souls fled New York first chance they got. New York City Transit workers still remember Cuomo's ham-handed forcing of Tier 6. They remember how abominably treated Andy Byford was by Cuomo during his time as President of the Authority, for the heinous crimes of DOING HIS JOB WELL, and for daring to have a cooperative rapport with ridership (evidenced by the moniker, "Train Daddy"), during the Canarsie Tube debacle. 3. Finally, while elites and well-meaning politicos wring their hands over Sliwa's electability and mental stability over his love of cats, the 'hood knows EXACTLY who Sliwa is. Curtis Sliwa is known and BELOVED in Black neighborhoods. NY1's Errol Louis, DSA propagandist that he is, recently did a special with Curtis on the ground in my old neighborhood of Brownsville, Brooklyn. Sliwa is absolutely BELOVED in that neighborhood and others throughout the Five Boroughs. Curtis is in the subway EVERY DAY, forever known for his service as the founder of the Guardian Angels. Many NATIVE-BORN New Yorkers remember him by the red beret the Establishment demanded he TAKE OFF, no doubt to make people FORGET who he was as he stood on stage. By comparison, Andrew Cuomo had a "firewall" of Black support a while ago, but once that got obliterated by Zohran back in the summer, you think he was out in these neighborhoods rebuilding said firewall? NO. You think that endorsement by Eric Adams, regarded by MANY Blacks in this town as a clown and wannabe party promoter, is going to help Cuomo that much? It won't. Simply put, Mr. Ackman, you CANNOT ask people to simply put their memories and knowledge of who Cuomo is aside for the sake of "experience." To do so is no different than perverted males in womanface demanding women "reframe their trauma" for the sake of autogynephilic porn addicts in search of their next hit of "gender euphoria" in women's prisons. Curtis Sliwa, in my humble opinion, is QUINTESSENTIAL New York City. He is the gritty, GENUINE antidote to the fagged-out Midwestern gentrifier; the guilty Park Slope shitlib, and the rabid DSA mongrel in search of Communist Revolution. I endorse @CurtisSliwa.
