It is my understanding that the @usabmc is refurbishing and rotating panels that celebrate our heroic African-American soldiers who helped to liberate our Dutch allies. Any criticism of @POTUS or the men and women of the ABMC is inappropriate and ill-informed.

The awe-inspring Netherlands American Cemetery is here to honor the incredible sacrifice our troops made in World War II, including the ultimate sacrifice made by many brave African-American soldiers. The displays at #Margraten are not here to push an agenda criticizing America. There are 15 panels highlighting the stories of individual soldiers, including the one featured here of Pvt. Willmore Mack of the 784th Tank Battalion, who valiantly gave his life in the campaign of 1944.

Villa del Balbianello, a villa in the comune of Lenno (province of Como), north of Lombardy region of Italy, overlooking Lake Como. It is located on the tip of the small wooded peninsula of Dosso d'Avedo on the western shore of the south-west branch of Lake Como, 1500m east from the Isola Comacina. The villa is famous for its elaborate terraced gardens. A Franciscan monastery had existed on tip of peninsula of Dosso d'Avedo since 13th Century CE. Towers which remain on the property are remnants of campanili of monastery's church. After failing in his attempts to buy nearby Isola Comacina, Cardinal Angelo Maria Durini purchased this property in 1785 CE. In 1787 CE, he converted the monastery structure into a villa for use during summer and added a loggia, which allowed viewers to obtain two different panoramas of the lake. After cardinal’s death in 1796 CE, villa passed to his nephew, Luigi Porro Lambertenghi. During his ownership, villa became a center for republican activity and meetings, where Italian patriots and Carbonari met. Among Lambertenghi's guests at villa was writer Silvio Pellico, who tutored Lambertenghi's sons. In 1820 CE, Pellico was arrested by Austrian government and Lambertenghi was forced to move to Belgium, where he was supported by Arconati-Visconti family. Lambertenghi subsequently sold the villa to his friend, Giuseppe Arconati Visconti. Visconti made improvements to its gardens and the loggia. To this day, balustrade in front of the church bears the Visconti emblem of a serpent with a man in its mouth. During period of Visconti ownership, villa hosted politicians and writers Giovanni Berchet, Alessandro Manzoni, Giuseppe Giusti, as well as the artist Arnold Böcklin. The gradual decline of the family resulted in a neglect of villa for more than 30 years. Just prior to WWI, American businessman Butler Ames saw the villa for first time. He made an offer to purchase it from Arconati Visconti family and was initially rejected. He kept returning with ever-larger cash offers, until in 1919 he was successful in obtaining ownership. Ames renovated villa and its garden. In 1974, Ames's heirs sold the villa to businessman and explorer Count Guido Monzino (leader of first Italian expedition to climb Mount Everest). While Monzino left the exterior essentially unchanged, he had interior of villa completely re-decorated, installing artifacts acquired on his expeditions as well as important pieces of English Georgian and French antique furniture from 18th-19th Centuries, Beauvais tapestries, French boiseries and Oriental carpets. After assassination of Aldo Moro in 1978 by Red Brigade, Monzino became worried about his safety, and added a system of hidden passages, linking parts of property. Monzino died in 1988 and left villa along with most of Dosso d'Avedo and an endowment to pay for maintenance, to Fondo Ambiente Italiano (FAI), National Trust of Italy. Its grounds now form part of Grandi Giardini Italiani. Today, Villa del Balbianello is most visited among 52 FAI properties with over 135,000 visitors in 2019. In 2016, Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano commenced a €413,000 project to restore and improve the villa’s jetty, install new signage, new security, emergency lighting and fire prevention systems. Palace of Sammezzano in Italy : Moroccan Awakening is an Italian palace in Tuscany with an architectural style. It is located in Leccio, a tomb of Reggello in the province of Florence. The original palace was built around 1605 AD, by the Spanish aristocrat Ximenes of Aragon. Ferdinand Panciatichi inherited the Ximenes property in the century and remodeled it between 1853-1889 AD, as one of the greatest examples of Moroccan Awakening architecture. Umberto (King of Italy) visited Ximenes in Sammezzano in 1878 AD. It served as a luxury hotel after the WWI; it was later evacuated and closed. A committee named FPXA 1813–2013, abbreviated for Ferdinand Panciatichi Ximenes d'Aragon, was organized in 2012 to restore and preserve a palazzo, which consists of 365 rooms, each with unique Moroccan decoration. #archaeohistories
