We have tassels and silks this morning. I’d estimate 40-50% of local fields planted in April and early May are now pollinating in SE IA. Later planted corn now only a few days behind the April corn

On the Ag file, grains are red overnight, wheat unchanged. Spraying fungicides is happening, but one thing is certain: planes and chopper costs have risen dramatically this year to $15.00 an acre. Drones are also up if you are hiring. Lots of fat tires on sprayers hitting the fields. One heck of a couple sections of peas north of Indian Head. Wow. The fungicide order arrived funny; a few boxes said they were produced in 2024. Ah, the cost on those is the same as new. Storms are strong this year—if it has red, run for cover. We got 4/10 overnight on most of the farm. Good thing it was early this morning as it is gaining strength going east. Have a great day. Guys are cutting hay full bore with the window opening, but clouds have rain if they form.
