Most of my 3000 domain names are on GoDaddy. I have them on auto renew. If I decide to drop any I have 3 days to request a refund. I pay ~ $42k a year to renew my portfolio. This doesn’t include domain acquisition costs which are not cheap! These are todays renewals.

Random Sunday Thoughts #212 1. The beat was strong at another amazing NOLA Jazzfest (more below), and the beat goes on even stronger in the ultra premium domain name asset class, with yet another week of crazy momentum. I can confirm that ATM Holdings and Hilco Digital, oversaw the sale of the exact match domain Upscale .com, in a win-win transaction for all. I am currently in no less than 6 negotiations, for some of the most valuable exact match, category defining domains on the Internet; two that will close this week (will discuss soon) and 4 that are advancing quickly. In 28 years, I have been through every possible type of economy, market, and tech boom (and bust). Throughout them all, the most premium domain names remain valuable, recession proof, and amongst the strongest performing assets on a standalone ROI basis. However, there are waves. Q1 2021, when the "Zoom, Peloton" phase kicked in during covid, was one such wave. Domain assets skyrocketed as businesses were reinvented. Fortunately, that was short lived and as life returned to normal post pandemic, many of the businesses that rode that wave struggled, while others like Zoom became a permanent part of everyday life. This current wave is bigger, longer lasting, and less of a product of a phenomena, and all about the revolutionary emergence of AI. The surge in domain transactions and values is partially because of the massive flow of capital into new AI companies, but also because the strategic importance of owning the category defining, exact match brand domain for your business has been magnified with AI.
