At dawn today(Tuesday31March) #BabakAlipour and #PouyaGhobadi, two members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), were executed in Qezel Hesar Prison by the religious fascism ruling Iran. The brutal execution of these PMOI members reflects the clerical regime’s fear and desperation in the face of an enraged population and its growing support for the Resistance Units and the Liberation Army. Carrying out such criminal executions in the midst of an external war constitutes an explicit admission by the ruling clerics that their principal enemy is the Iranian people and Resistance. However, this unrestrained bloodshed will not go unanswered by rebellious youth and freedom fighters, who will ultimately sweep this disgraceful, anti-human regime from our homeland. Babak Alipour, Pouya Ghabadi, Mohammad Taghavi, and Akbar Daneshvarkar are among the proud exemplars of sincerity and sacrifice in our time, and their names will forever be etched in Iran’s history. They are noble individuals who never bowed to torture or pressure and remained steadfast in their commitment until the very end. I call on the United Nations, its member states, and all human rights defenders to condemn this horrific crime and to take urgent action to save PMOI and other political prisoners currently on death row. The time has come for practical and effective measures, including the closure of embassies and the expulsion of the regime’s terrorist diplomats and agents.

The Iranian regime is intensifying its campaign of state executions. Political prisoners Babak Alipour (34, a law graduate) and Pouya Ghobadi (33, an electrical engineer) were executed by the regime this morning, following the executions of Mohammad Taghavi and Akbar Daneshvarkar just 24 hours earlier. Their only “crime” was their affiliation with the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) MEPs have repeatedly campaigned to end the death penalty and have urged the @eu_eeas @EUCouncil @Europarl_EN to act, to help save the lives of prisoners, particularly political prisoners. It is time to hold the regime accountable for years of crimes against the people of Iran. #StopExecutionsInIran

Since the war began, at least six executions have been recorded under an internet blackout that has now lasted 31 consecutive days. Three men were hanged in connection with the nationwide protests that started on 28 December 2025, following proceedings reportedly marred by serious due process concerns. Another individual was also executed on charges of espionage linked to Israel. Today, two more were executed for baghi (armed rebellion against the foundations of the Islamic Republic). On those last two, together with UN experts, I had sent an urgent communication to the Iranian authorities in September 2025 to halt the execution Akbar (Shahrokh) Daneshvarkar and Seyyed Mohammad Taghavi Sangdehi. The communication is here: spcommreports.ohchr.org/TMResultsBase/… State response: spcommreports.ohchr.org/TMResultsBase/… These executions follow a long-standing pattern of using the death penalty to suppress dissent.
