Contested Race in HD98 Fred Tate vs Armin Mizani vs Zdenka Wilcox @Tate4Texas is backed by the big establishment players, such as @GregAbbott_TX. He also has passionate rhetoric on immigration, lashing out at his opponent Mizani for not supporting e-verify. All in all he would likely be no different than most other republican reps. @ArminMizaniTX is Mayor of Keller and has the endorsement of the new power faction in Tarrant County, led by @TimothyOHare. While the endorsements could be considered more conservative than Tate's, he is clearly identical on policy. The only distinction is on immigration, where Mizani believes that Hispanics should be pandered to by softening restrictions on some immigration restrictions. @ZdenkaWilcox is a mom and hard to place on the republican spectrum. She feels that politics has become dominated by the two boys' clubs of Abbott and O'Hare (she's not wrong). She is essentially running as a middle finger to both, though how conservative she would be after unfurling that digit is TBD. On the most important issue, immigration, she is a legal immigrant and advocates for enforcing current laws with compassion. None of these candidates are perfect. The strongest on immigration, Tate, is backed by the snake Greg Abbott. Hard decision. I revel in the establishment squirming, so vote Wilcox and at least we can force the other two into an entertaining runoff!

Update for the Texas HD-98 Republican Primary. When filing opened, Republican voters in House District 98 had three choices:
- (myself) James Courtney: self-funded, first-time candidate, libertarian-leaning conservative and tech nerd focused on limited government and individual liberty.
- Armin Mizani: proven conservative Mayor of Keller with overwhelming local support from mayors, city councils, school boards, and grassroots Republicans across the district.
- Fred Tate: the Austin-backed candidate whose campaign is funded and driven largely by lobbyists, consultants, and the permanent political class.
After much thought and realizing that this is not about me but what is best for this community, I am withdrawing from this race and giving my full, enthusiastic endorsement and support to Mayor Armin Mizani
This is about sending the best representative to Austin for the families of HD98. Armin shares many of the same values as myself, knows our local needs and has a prove record of action. @arminmixanitx is the clear choice for our district.
I respectfully ask the Republican voters in HD98 to join me in supporting Mayor Armin Mizani as our candidate. We need to send someone that will truly represent the local community and take action, not someone that will represent more Austin talk that only stalls in bureaucracy .
