@devrelius Im buidling something like this actually. Its going to start small but grow into a next level esports game for those hardcore types but even the casual player can be involved and influence the game with their casual play

Prediction: an entire new category of games is about to sweep the market and AI agents will be at the center of it. I'm calling them "truman show games". This is due to 2 very important trends: 1) People love watching others play games, because it's a more passive form of entertainment that requires less stress and concentration. The world is only getting more complicated, and while there's always going to be hardcore gamers, the general public is more of a candy crush player than an elden ring player - i.e. SIMPLE, casual, satisfying. But that doesn't mean they aren't yearning for something more fulfilling. Watching a series is too passive, playing an RPG game is too active/time consuming for most people. Needs a middle ground. 2) The fun part of playing games like the sims or stardew valley, etc is the player imagining the lore, the relationships and the characters. Actually doing stuff in the game is honestly a chore. I remember when I played the sims back in the day I loved building houses and creating characters, but as soon as I pressed PLAY I got bored quickly because the gameplay is all mechanical operations like cleaning up messes, remembering to unlock the doors, etc. I'm busy thinking about the story, don't make me do annoying repetitive tasks like taking out the trash. A new form of game: Truman Show games. Imagine being able to create characters, their personalities, their goals, their ambitions, their relationships (i.e. everything FUN about an RPG) and create the SETTING for the game, or even just the CONTEXT for the game, and then sit back, and watch the game unfold like the truman show? You can have god like intervention whenever you want, nudging some players in specific directions, or causing events, and you would see how the players react. You could also "step in" and play as a character if/when you want, but the game keeps playing, evolving, never the same, forever unfolding in unexpected ways. This new game type is going to be entertaining and rewarding because it will combine passive consumption, with occasional active participation and seamlessly adapt to the degree of participation that the player wants to take on, without disrupting the gameplay. Who's building this?
