In 2021 our portfolio company Fridge No More raised $19M and opened 49 stores in NYC, employed 300 people and was able to deliver goods to your door in under 15 minutes, paying above minimum wage to couriers (they were actually so happy with their jobs they offered to work for free when the company couldn’t get funding). Unlike Mamdani’s store they had to pay rent and taxes. This is $387K per store including all the R&D, CapEX, and a central processing facility. Somehow when a socialist politician is trying to do that it’s 100x more and takes 3 years. Remember my words it will not end at $30M. Very soon they’ll ask for more.

smart tax. A valid concern about taxing the rich at a state or municipal level is that they'll move. But that's irrelevant if you tax people who already don't live in NYC. You even see people like Jason Calacanis trying to pull the "they'll flee NYC" line. It doesn't work here!

Conservatism is a real thing with deeply held principles. Charlie had the right idea by reaching out to younger people and building the next generation.
But the current "conservative movement" is largely a farce. It's become a vehicle for populism/Trumpism, moving away from actual conservatism.

Iran has a ton of oil already out on the seas meaning this move won’t hurt them for a while. They are also used to misery, because of our extreme sanctions.
Meanwhile US costs for everything sky rocket immediately.

BREAKING I just spoke with President Trump on the phone about talks with Iran and his latest Truth social post touting US oil and gas supply. “Take a look out of the great seas of our world many of them heading to the United States to load up with oil, we have plenty of it.” He told me this isn’t because Iran isn’t opening up the Strait of Hormuz because it will be open in the “not too distant future.” Irans a “failing nation.” “But I think people are seeing there are other alternatives to going through the Strait.” I asked if talks have officially started he said yes. I asked he if feels like are acting in good faith he told me “I’ll let you know that in a very short period of time, won’t take long.”

@MMTmacrotrader Theoretically, you could run the entire economy with just PC funds instead of banks. It would just require enormous efficiency of central bank dollars to facilitate all transactions. People would probably start trading via PC units just like they use bank deposits today.

Most of the hysteria over losses in private credit is due to a fundamental misunderstanding of endogenous money. However with the growth of bank lending to NDFIs its not an issue completely isolated outside the banks balance sheet.
Private credit is not money creation in the way bank credit is. When banks originate a new loan, money is created as a loan/deposit pair. Where as PC is usually an intermediation of existing deposits. So losses in PC, while painful for the investor, do not necessarily have to impact the banking systems ability to create new money. And its this endogenous money creation that keeps new flows coming and validates existing claims.
The real turning point remains fiscals flows, especially at the macro level. The losses in PC and any exposure they may have on balance sheets are quickly absorbed by the continued fiscal add.

Wage growth ticked up to 3.8% for the 3-months ended March for job stayers (vs 3.5% in December).

According to Fed data, real wages rose just barely since 1990 for the bottom 50% of college graduates. The top 25 percent, meanwhile, saw large income gains.
