Today, I successfully defended my MSc thesis(dissertation) at the University of Westminster, London @UniWestminster, in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the award of a Master of Science (MSc) in Cyber Security and Forensics. The 72-page research work I realized titled “Investigating the Impact Of Trust-Based Security Mechanisms On Preventing Security Attacks In IOE Networks” was successfully presented to the panel of examiners. My course 📚 is now completed, and this day marks my last day as a postgraduate student at this prestigious world-class institution I have studied throughout this time. Grateful to my Supervisor and module leader Dr. Ayman El Hajjar for the support during the work and throughout my journey for this course. I remain very grateful to mentors, friends and everyone who assisted me throughout this academic journey in what has been a vigorous and an exciting academic year. Special thanks to UK Government through @CheveningFCDO and @UKinCameroon who awarded me a fully funded scholarship to study in the UK. It was a great honour to participate in the Retreat Before the 2027 Budget Retreat, organised by the Office of the Director General (ODG), which took place from 13th to 20th April 2026. During the Retreat, Departments, Directorates, Organs, and Specialised Agencies presented their 2027 Program Budget, highlighting their strategic focus areas, initiatives, and expected outcomes. The Retreat also provided a holistic perspective of the Union’s activities, allowing participants to identify overlaps, duplications, and opportunities for synergies, complementarities, and joint activities, leading to great outcomes. It was an honour to attend and participate in the AU Operational Coordination Workshop: Cohesive Policy, Messaging & Reporting, organised by the Office of the Director General (ODG), 8-9 April, at Hyatt Regency. The workshop presented the two (2) recently developed cornerstone strategic tools: the ‘AU Strategies and Policies Matrix’ and the ‘AU Thematic Key Messages Matrix’, with sessions on overview, insights, general discussions, plenary, and breakout sessions to review content, provide feedback, and propose refinements. The final booklet will integrate both matrices into a single, powerful reference and strategic tool. Speaking as an alumnus, I shared on my experiences, what it's actually like to be a fellow, program structure, things to look out for, and advice for applicants. The fellowship embeds Africa’s brightest technical talent within AU institutions to co-develop data-driven, technology-enabled solutions. Developed and hosted by the @_AfricanUnion, and implemented by @enpactorg with the support of the GIZ DataCipation program, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). My top advice to applicants: Use STAR approach in your essays, clearly demonstrate measurable impact from your past experiences, and show what impact you will want to create and your contributions through the fellowship!
