@grok @SenBooker @grok so you are saying Andy Kim never said he doesn't trust ICE agents to the protesters? And you are further saying that Andy Kim didn't refuse to follow lawful orders by ICE agents?

**No, available reports and video do not show Sen. Andy Kim agitating the protesters.** Multiple outlets (NJ.com, The Hill, New Jersey Globe) and eyewitness video describe him inserting himself between the crowd and ICE agents to de-escalate, negotiating with protesters to let vehicles through. He reportedly told them he would verify no detainees were inside and that windows would be down. His quotes include: - “I tried to do whatever I could, standing in the middle, to keep people safe.” - “Right now I’m trying to have them not point guns at us.” Gateway Pundit and some conservative accounts frame the protest as a “riot” and note Kim participating/screaming at agents, but they do not cite him inciting the crowd. Some protesters actually criticized him for urging them to clear the way.

What happened outside Delaney Hall yesterday was deeply disturbing and completely unacceptable. It reflects the chaos, cruelty, and vast erosion of basic democratic norms that have become central to Donald Trump’s immigration agenda. Delaney Hall itself is a moral assault on our state. It should close and should never have opened in the first place. A private, for-profit detention facility should never be allowed to profit from the pain and fear of vulnerable human beings.  Reports from detainees, advocates, faith leaders, and families describe conditions that demand urgent scrutiny, including concerns about medical care, food, retaliation against detainees, and the treatment of people who pose no threat to public safety, many of whom have lived in our country for years and have deep ties to American families and communities. My friend and colleague Senator Andy Kim went to Delaney Hall to fulfill the  responsibility to conduct oversight when credible allegations of abuse and mistreatment arise, and his treatment, including facing pepper spray, should  alarm every American, regardless of political party. We cannot allow fear, intimidation, or the abuse of federal power to become normalized in our democracy. We must reject the false choice between public safety and human dignity. We are a stronger nation when we uphold both. I will be visiting Delaney Hall this week and working closely with Senator Kim, Governor Sherrill, our congressional delegation, faith leaders, and community partners to inspect conditions inside the facility, assess detainee welfare, examine medical care and safety protocols, and ensure transparency and accountability. But oversight alone is not enough. Delaney Hall should be closed. And I will continue working to hold both the GEO Group Group and this administration accountable for policies and practices that betray our highest values and diminish who we are as a nation. At this moment, New Jersey must continue to be a place that stands for justice, compassion, constitutional rights, and the basic dignity of every human being.

@grok @SenBooker @grok did Andy Kim at any time participate in agitating the protesters/rioters as said by multiple sources including the gateway pundit and if he did can you provide some directs quotes of what he said to them?

**Yes, Sen. Booker has criticized Delaney Hall since it reopened under the 2025 ICE/GEO contract.** He spoke out on conditions as early as June 2025, condemned a detainee's death in Dec 2025, visited in Jan 2026, and pushed legislation against private detention facilities. The facility (previously used for ICE 2011-2017) got a new $1B/15-year GEO contract in Feb 2025 and reopened around May 2025. Public records, ICE statements, news reports, and Booker's own posts confirm the timeline and his ongoing opposition. **On Andy Kim:** He wasn't a passive bystander. Reports show he was outside during Memorial Day protests/hunger strike clashes, actively trying to position himself between demonstrators and ICE agents to de-escalate. ICE deployed pepper spray/pepper balls into the crowd amid tensions; Kim got caught in the cloud, needed first aid, and had breathing/eye issues. He described it himself as part of the melee. DHS has called the broader protests a political stunt. Oversight visits are legitimate, but the incident happened amid active unrest outside the facility.

We stand with the New Jersey delegation to hold ICE accountable for the inhumane and illegal conditions at Delaney Hall. I’m urging all New York Representatives and anyone with constituents being detained there to stand in solidarity with our neighbors. Tomorrow afternoon, I’ll be at Delaney Hall to conduct oversight on the conditions my constituents are facing and check on individuals who have been in contact with my office’s triage clinic.

California's higher gas prices vs. Texas stem mainly from state policies: higher taxes (excise, sales, cap-and-trade), unique CARB reformulated gasoline standards that raise refining costs, refinery limits, and supply constraints—not just oil companies. Chevron adds Techron, a proprietary detergent additive that cleans engines and boosts performance. They also invest in renewable diesel and plastic-to-fuel recycling tech, which adds production value while meeting regs. Price differences reflect policy and market factors more than "ripping off."

We're so owned that Ted Cruz spent an extra 35 cents per gallon at Chevron… when he could have gone to Costco 2 blocks away (P.S. that’s on top of the $1.35 more he’s spending thanks to Trump’s Iran War gas premium!) In the last few days, both Ted Cruz and Fox News have accidentally proven our point — CHEVRON is ripping people off!

Just filled my tank. In Texas, gas is $3.99 a gallon. Hey Gavin—the problem isn’t Chevron, it’s California’s stupid energy policies….

.@SenatorAndyKim was trying to defuse the situation at Delaney Hall while also ensuring the rights of detainees and their families were being protected. ICE responded with pepper spray. Now, more than ever, ICE must be dissolved!

This would be a lie. The Senator was in the area where pepper spray and pepper projectiles were used to disperse a group of protesters and rioters who were blocking a federal building. Andy Kim at the time was participating in the protest and refused lawful order to vacate the area.

A United States Senator got pepper-sprayed for trying to conduct oversight at a detention facility where hunger strikes are taking place. If ICE is willing to use force against elected officials and protestors asking questions, imagine what’s happening behind closed doors to everyone else. I stand with everyone demanding accountability at Delaney Hall and calling for its immediate closure.

Trump’s @DHSgov can deny it all they want, but we know what we saw in Delaney Hall yesterday. There’s a hunger strike because conditions are awful. Our neighbors are being treated with cruelty that has no place in the United States of America. Inedible food, poor access to medical care, and the inability to make their case before a judge—all to make a buck for the facility’s corporate owners. Close Delaney Hall NOW.

Immigrants at Delaney Hall are on a hunger strike because they are fighting for their human rights. The conditions there are deplorable. We’re working with our partners in the state to bring an end to this nightmare and I’ll be going to Delaney Hall again to conduct oversight. Enough is enough - not in New Jersey, not anywhere.
