I'm thinking of finally getting Tesla. I was going to get one last year, but then Leftists were being, well... Leftists. But that seems to have calmed down from a vandalism standpoint. Plus, it'll piss off Dems. So that's a bonus. However, I know very littleabout them. Other than, you know, they're electric. Looked at the website a bit yesterday. But too many options. Any have one and have any suggestions? What model is the best bang for its buck? Is FSD worth it? Most importantly, what color? 🤨

@TechOperator Manual driving is a flex, as long as you aren’t impaired, distracted or overly tired. If you are a good driver who avoids these things I would still trust you over FSD, especially FSD 12.6.4 which is truly terrible.

@FullFatMilky @JordanEVGuy Agreed - but for most people driving more than 300 miles in a day is fairly rare. If you do that 10 times a year and lose time supercharging but save time every other day charging at home that’s still a good deal.

@JordanEVGuy If you aren't going further than say 300 miles and can get access to a charge and have the time to sit around and wait for it maybe. But if you are going further than 300 miles, do not have the time and cannot charge at home no.

Electric cars are better. A thread. 🧵 Not for every person. Not for every journey. Not for every use case. But for the vast majority of drivers, electric cars are simply a better product. Here’s why.

When I started writing my AI book about a year ago, I was worried the tech would advance so fast everything I wrote then would be immediately outdated. But here’s the thing: AI *hasn’t* radically advanced in the past few years, breathless headlines notwithstanding. It’s mostly advanced at about the same rate as regular software in that time frame. There likely will be more “jumps” going forward (like ChatGPT 3.5 was), but don’t believe the AI hype machine that everything will change overnight. I even expect we’ll have at least one more “AI winter” like we’ve had 3-4 times in the past. The progress won’t be exponential or even linear.

Mormons believe God the Father was once a limited man who currently has a wife and lives on a planet called Kolob… The “gospel” of Mormonism is that you can also become a god and own your own planet. Mormons are not Christians.

@wholemars I just got a 2024 Model 3 RWD and it’s pretty darn efficient too. It averaged under 190 Wh/mile each way on my 50 mile commute.

400 miles of real world range — more than they advertise
Sawyer Merritt@SawyerMerritt

The 2026 @Tesla Model 3 RWD is the most efficient EV that Edmunds has tested that is currently in production. "Tesla's RWD Model 3 has an EPA range estimate of 363 miles, but our test car traveled 393 miles on a full charge. That's 30 miles farther than its official figure, or an 8.3% improvement. The more impressive figure is how little energy it used to get there. The EPA rates the Model 3 RWD at 25 kWh per 100 miles, or 4 miles per kWh. In our testing, it returned 21.7 kWh per 100 miles, or 4.61 mi/kWh, making it 13.2% more efficient than its EPA estimate. The latest car feels quick, quiet and easy to drive, with responsive steering and useful cargo space. Our reviewers have also found the cabin to be better finished than before. Taken as a whole, the Model 3 RWD is an unusually efficient electric vehicle that is also nice to drive and easy to live with on a daily basis." Full article: edmunds.com/car-news/2026-…

@TaylorRMarshall No. It’s purely a matter of preference. If you feel closer to God at TLM then by all means go, but the same is true about the NO. If you have children though they will have an easier time understanding and engaging with the NO.

Last night I re-read Vatican II’s document “Sacrosanctum Concilium” on the liturgy. I'm convinced that the liturgical Mass we received in 1969-1970 did not accurately fulfill what the 1963 document approved by the assembled bishops by a vote of 2,147 to 4. (Yes, Lefebvre voted IN FAVOR of the document.) Yes, we need a healthy 1962 preservation TLM discussion, but we also need to reexamine whether the current Novus Ordo is actually the Mass envisioned by Vatican II. I argue that it is not and that Pope Leo might need to properly reform the sacramentary back to a more traditional format. Agree or disagree?

Just a reminder: Mormonism is not Christian because it rejects the Christian understanding of the Godhead: One God in Three Persons. (There are other reasons, too, but that makes the whole discussion a non-starter.)

Looking at Mamdani in New York and the shambolic California election, I realized I did what I can do, I moved with my family to red West Virginia. And I’m at peace. I wish the blue areas the best, but they are their own problem.

@Sierra_rak Perhaps. But for people who like AI, would you still like it if very few of those things were realized while causing massive economic upheaval, poverty and the utter destruction of the educational system? (See Citrini essay).

People who hate AI… would you change your mind if AI led to the discovery of: 1. Clean energy 2. The ability to store data for 1/1000 of the size and energy with no negative environmental effects 3. Cured cancer 4. Helped researchers clean the air and water? 5. Allowed us to talk to animals? 6. Allowed humans to understand the nature of consciousness. I’m genuinely curious,

@niccruzpatane FSD is ok, but Teslas are fun to drive and should be driven. FSD eventually gets annoying because its speed control and lane choices are not quite natural. It is relieving for me to drive the way I think a car should be driven after using FSD for a while

If you have a Tesla, you should be using Tesla FSD. Every day I see owners driving around manually for no reason. Let the car do all your driving! It will seriously change your life. Tesla FSD is now the product, and the vehicles are just the delivery system. If you haven’t tried it yet, I highly suggest going to a Tesla showroom and experiencing the "magic" for yourself. It’s so hard to describe.

Next time you think your new Tesla is cool just remember some dude is still driving around his 2002 Toyota Tacoma that’s never had an issue, has 300,000 miles on it, it’s easy and cheap to maintain, and he’ll push it past 400k miles easy… Probably even still using a headphone jack to blast Sum 41 from an MP3 player like some kind of psycho.
