The Joint Clinical Research Centre, Uganda
Yesterday marked a powerful step forward in Uganda’s journey toward life-saving, advanced healthcare. The Katikiro of Buganda, Owek. @cpmayiga, officially launched a dedicated fundraising link to support the establishment of Uganda’s first-ever Bone Marrow Transplant Centre a transformative milestone for our nation. "For years, Sickle Cell Disease has burdened many families, often surrounded by myths and misunderstanding. Today, we are guided by science and innovation. With advancements like bone marrow transplantation, we now have real hope - hope to save lives, restore health, and give families a second chance" he said. As the Joint Clinical Research Centre, we are proud to stand alongside the @KlaSpringers and @Pearlbankug in driving this bold and life-changing initiative. While awareness continues to grow, we must now turn momentum into action. Health is the foundation of every thriving society and together, we can make this vision a reality. Join us. Be part of the change. Save a life. 👇🏾 bmtfundraising.jcrc.org.ug

😂😂 On the contrary: Court has since ruled that Government owns copyright of our national anthem because it directed and controlled the creation process. However, copyright protection for government-owned works lasts 50 years from first performance or publication. Since the anthem was first performed in 1962, copyright expired in 2012, so the national anthem can now be freely used, or even reproduced without copyright issues. That’s why on national functions, anyone can sing it their way. Like the famous Juliana Kanyomozi ‘version.’ But Kakoma received shs.2,000 payment in 1962 for composition.

Happening today: The LIGHT TB Project Final Dissemination at Protea Hotel, bringing together key stakeholders for the release of findings from a 6-year, FCDO/UK aid–funded collaboration led by the @Lung_Institute and the @LIGHTonTB The project Focused on “Leaving No-One Behind”, the evidence highlights critical gaps in TB care and the need for gender-responsive, patient-centred approaches. These findings come at a pivotal moment ahead of #WorldTBDay, with strong potential to shape national TB policy and programming. @brucekirenga @SsaliSarah @Afidep @MuellerHealth @TheGFUCCM @winterzie @Jackynakabira @FCDOGovUK @MLW_Programme @MinofHealthUG @WHOUganda @unhco @jcrc_official1 @StopTB @LSHTM @ReSoKenya #LungInstituteUG #LIGHTEvidenceToAction #MLIat10

Kawempe National Referral Hospital has significantly reduced maternal deaths over the past three years, from over 200 deaths annually to about 60 out of approximately 20,000 deliveries. This was revealed by Dr Emmanuel Byaruhanga, the Executive Director while appearing before the Public Accounts Committee (Central Govt). However, he said that the hospital still grapples with overwhelming patient numbers and resource constraints, where close to 30 maternal deliveries out of 60 are conducted through caesarean section, exceeding the World Health Organisation’s recommended rate of 15 per cent. Legislators raised concerns about the strain this volume places on staff and infrastructure, particularly in maternal and neonatal care units.

The day is finally done. So many narratives to share here. This is Singita conservation; an ecological restoration initiative - trying to build a wonderful wild life ecosystem - replica of stuff I have seen at Tilenga Safaris where you can just see an elephant in comfort of your bed @Tilengasafari. I can now agree that @wekesa_amos is a national asset. Everything he says is visible when you visit places where Tourism is thriving at a faster pace. Long-live ndugu!

According to Prof. @brucekirenga the @LIGHTonTB raised a critical research question: Where are the men in TB care, despite the high disease burden? The programme set out to shine a light on this overlooked gap and now, the evidence is here. @brucekirenga @SsaliSarah @Afidep @MuellerHealth @TheGFUCCM @winterzie @Jackynakabira @FCDOGovUK @MLW_Programme @MinofHealthUG @WHOUganda @unhco @jcrc_official1 @StopTB @LSHTM @ReSoKenya #LungInstituteUG #LIGHTEvidenceToAction #MLIat10

The @LIGHTonTB has unveiled findings from a 6-year global TB research programme, calling for urgent shift to gender-responsive, people-centred TB care ahead of #WorldTBDay. Presenting the findings, LIGHT Consortium CEO Rachael Thomson emphasized that “leaving no one behind” means investing in locally-led, equitable TB solutions shaped by communities. The research shows community-led and male-friendly TB approaches are improving case detection and reducing stigma highlighting the need to design services around real-life barriers to care.@brucekirenga @SsaliSarah @Afidep @MuellerHealth @TheGFUCCM @ikimuli2020 @winterzie @Jackynakabira @FCDOGovUK @MLW_Programme @MinofHealthUG @WHOUganda @unhco @jcrc_official1 @StopTB @LSHTM @ReSoKenya #LungInstituteUG #LIGHTEvidenceToAction #MLIat10
