One of the worst / most misused parts of the US legal system is called litigation privilege. You can put almost ANYTHING in a legal complaint or motion (no matter how false) and be immune from defamation claims
And then it’s read and reported by the press. If this claim were made DIRECTLY to the press, then there’s a defamation claim. So it’s just “laundered” through a legal complaint where litigation privilege applies.

Last night, Israeli forces intercepted and boarded a humanitarian aid flotilla bound for Gaza in international waters off the coast of Greece — unlawfully detaining more than 175 people, including several New Yorkers.
My team has been in direct contact with State and Federal partners as we work to confirm the whereabouts and conditions of these New Yorkers.
This is a brazen violation of international law. Those detained must be released.

I’m conflicted on this. I’d prefer that 95+% of kids go to public schools in large part so that resources could be shared more effectively. So I’m happy that these rich parents are giving to make public rather than private schools better, but probably needs some redistribution.

One thing I did not realize until having kids in NYC public schools is how much variable auxiliary fundraising occurs at each specific location. So even if you divide the tax pie in a perfectly egalitarian manner, schools with wealthier parents will still end up with more.
