It upsets me to see how many children have their whole life planned out for them, before they are even born. When my Trans child is born next year I will make sure they are completely free to choose which university they will complete their degree in gender studies at.

@Sorelle_Arduino At at time when Northern Ireland violence against women is at its highest in Europe and 30 women have been murdered by men since 2020, we get to support the bravery of this cunt.

The article in Unherd is all very well, but somebody needs to point out that Unherd is owned by the same guy who owns @GBNews and the writer has a slot on Lachlan Murdoch’s Times Radio. Frankly, the BBC needs to get better at pointing these things out. This is not to say there is not merit in the piece nor is it to question Rob’s journalism, especially on the tortured trans issue which caused pain to many media orgs as they learned how to navigate it with compassion, a characteristic lacking almost everywhere else.

If you have to create a shared podium for the boy competing in the girls’ event, you’ve already admitted you know he isn’t a girl and that his participation is unfair. At that point, you're just seeking a public humiliation ritual for the girls.

Well, we're done with our family volunteering day at the women's shelter until something changes. We usually go every week and wash clothes and linens, sort donations, make intake kits and the boys do yard maintenance/ snow removal depending on the time of year. The director has put her trans identifying son in charge of in take for the summer and I find it utterly repugnant and refuse to support it. Women come in fleeing abuse and making them talk to a man in womanface about it is disgusting. We've stopped our monthly donation, our weekly meal sponsorship and weekly volunteering session until this changes and let them know exactly why. We're not the only ones pulling back, another volunteer told me in the last 6 days all but 2 weekly volunteers have quit over this because no one wants to work alone in the building with this man. Please pray this person voluntarily resigns for the good of the organization because the alternative is it shutting down, it cannot run without daily volunteers and money.

Little neighborhood drama this morning. The lady across the street who has been laid off for the past six months (I know this because I helped her with her resume) has an interview this morning (she told me that as well). I went outside to move my car, and she was pulling out of her gate. She pulled back into her driveway because she forgot something. I looked down the street and saw a tow truck make a sudden movement WHILE I was backing out. So I stopped in the street.

“What else was Hamas supposed to do on October 7?” I don’t know, Owen. Maybe not pick apocalyptic martyrdom over the Saudi-led peace track? They had two options: 1.Normalise with Israel along with the Saudi-led peace initiative. 2.Burn Gaza to the ground for the Ayatollahs’ messianic delusions. They chose door #2 - even after launching 1,550 rockets into Israel in 2023 before October 7. This wasn’t resistance. It was a fanatical death spiral dressed up as liberation

@mmecoucoucou @BradfemlyWalsh @helenstaniland Given that everyone thinks you said something that you now claim you didn’t mean, maybe this is a you issue. What did you mean. And at what age would a child become aware of sex in the context of toilets and feeling that their sex is wrong - presumably both are at the same age?

I'm interested in what reasons kids would give for *preferring* mixed sex toilets in school.

dailymail.com/news/article-1… ‘One mother, whose son goes to the Harold’s Cross school, and who asked to remain anonymous, compared the new setup to the dystopian novel 1984, saying: ‘We are teaching young people that their innate privacy and dignity can be removed and that no one will listen to them. My son is a lovely guy but he’s six feet tall. Is some 12-year-old girl going to want to queue for the toilets next to big 18-year-old blokes? ‘It’s a free-for-all that was imposed on them without any say. My son thinks it’s disgusting. If there was evidence that this prevented bullying, at least there would be a reason but they have to use a big wide open space with no privacy based on an assumption. ‘Good luck trying to pop a pimple without privacy or adjust your bra or even have a cry because you are a teenager full of hormones,’ she added.’ Thank you to @irishdailymail and @JamieMcCarron5 for covering this story and a special thank you to this mother of a son for speaking out so candidly and having such understanding the needs of young people.

I must confess to having underestimated Keir Starmer. Thumped in Thursday’s elections, this weekend he turns to Gordon Brown and Harriet Harman to rejuvenate his government with young, fresh blood. A stroke of pure genius. I foresee a second Starmer landslide come the next general election. Respect, sir.

Bravo, @Keir_Starmer, for getting in an Adviser on Women and Girls who thinks the definition of women and girls includes men and boys. That'll definitely win back people who believe Labour's a party for smug, lanyard-wearing, luxury-belief-espousing cultural elitists. 1/2

I’m delighted to appoint @HarrietHarman as my Adviser on Women and Girls. Harriet is a strong advocate for women and girls and I know she will deliver greater opportunity for women in public life. I’m committed to tackling structural misogyny that is a barrier for too many women and girls. I look forward to working with Harriet to drive forward action on this important issue.

The election results in England, Wales and Scotland are a disaster for the Labour Party, and I send commiserations to the many fantastic Labour representatives who have lost their seats. Frankly, if we don’t get our act together, Labour will face total destruction. The writing was on the wall after Gorton and Denton, after Runcorn and Helsby, and after last year’s local elections. People are desperate for a government that, after a decade of Tory austerity, will reverse the decline in living standards and tackle widening inequality. Today, voters are once again showing us that we are failing to do this at the pace and scale that the country needs. Instead of listening, the leadership doubled down on Reform-lite immigration policies, cut support for the most vulnerable, and made a series of unfathomable political blunders that have damaged Labour’s integrity and people’s trust in us. Some will argue that the answer is to go even further in chasing Reform. Not only would that be a betrayal of everything our party stands for, but we’ve also seen how pandering to the far-right only normalises, legitimises and strengthens their politics of division and hate. Today’s election results are proof that this won’t work. So where do we go from here? We need a Labour government that recognises its duty to working-class people, that fights for our rights and living standards, that takes on the vested interests holding this country back, and that makes the case for a more just and equal society. It’s also clear that in England we’re losing council votes to the Greens and seats to Reform, often by small margins, and first-past-the-post is turning those margins into a gift for the far right. Without proportional representation, that same system could hand Farage a majority government in 2029 on a minority of votes. We did not secure a historic majority in 2024 to be tepid in government, to punish the most vulnerable or to mimic our opponents. From housing to our hollowed-out public services, the country faces interlocking crises that demand bold policies and a progressive government with the courage to deliver them. With this in mind, I believe the Prime Minister should announce a timetable for his departure.

These are the toilets in Harold’s Cross Educate Together Secondary School. Fully open to the corridor and with male and female symbols on every single door. The school has, helpfully, laminate a couple of pieces of paper with arrows written on them saying ‘Male’ and ‘Female’. The only sinks are in the middle of the floor with no wall between them. I suppose the laminated signs are the school’s attempt at a compromise as there was uproar from the students a couple of months ago when plans revealed that every single toilet block and cubicle is mixed sex. Only people who are completely oblivious to the needs and desires of teenage girls especially, for privacy and dignity would make teenage girls share toilet facilities with teenage boys like this. It’s either ignorance or something more sinister - a complete disregard for the rights of half of the population. Educate Together my arse. What about girls and boys from countries, cultures and religious backgrounds for whom these shared facilities will be entirely unacceptable? They will self-exclude from schools like this. Everywhere where mixed sex facilities have been imposed on teenagers like this, girls have ended up physically ill because they will stop drinking water during the day because they won’t use these facilities. @hcetss @Education_Ire @1Hildegarde Why have exclusionary toilet facilities been adopted in this publicly funded school?

Róisín Murphy was cancelled in 2023 after sharing her views about the effects of puberty blockers on children on her personal Facebook page. Last week, @roisinmurphy spoke in Parliament about her experience of cancellation and the negative impact it is having on the arts. She said: “The creative soul of this country ... has always thrived on discomfort, on the freedom to be wrong, to offend, to pivot and to surprise ourselves. “Without that freedom, we don’t get better art, we simply put artists into a chokehold and suffocate the life out of our culture. We need free, equal and open debate. The arts must breathe freely again.” Murphy argued that public funding of the arts supports those who agree with prevailing orthodoxies rather than dissenting voices. This, she said, has led to self-censorship among artists and damaged British culture. Read more below @Freedom_in_Arts 👇
