BREAKING: Our leader @Helenkhosh has just been subjected to torture by the regime, reflecting the broader systemic violence against peaceful protesters. We urge our friends and partners to condemn this in the strongest manner!

BREAKING: Opposition leader @Helenkhosh was subjected to physical abuse and inhuman, degrading treatment after her detention, which is prohibited under the European Convention on Human Rights, Article 3 (prohibition of torture), and which, sadly, reflects the systemic violence against the unlawfully imprisoned protesters in Georgia. Elene breaks her silence in an effort to encourage others to speak up, and to convey to the people how others, less experienced persons can be intimidated and abused after detention. Police officers Nino Chkhartishvili and Davit Bolotashvili tied her hands back in handcuffs and hit her in her jaw and teeth. This was at a police station on Ramishvili. Later, at the Dighomi Temporary Accommodation Center (a pre-trial detention center), policewomen Nino Chkhartishvili, Salome Lashkhia and an unnamed one again held Elene’s hands on her back and fully undressed her against her will. We request and expect adequate assessment and condemnation by the friends of Georgia and our international partners! Elene is the Chair of @DroaParty, a member of @ALDEParty (@RenewEurope) and one of the leaders of the largest democratic coalition in Georgia, @CoalitionGEO.
