I am sure that both Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy always remain safe during attacks. Yesterday, Zelenskyy traveled to Romania — already his third visit there this year alone. At the time of his departure, warnings about an imminent Russian strike had already been issued, and it is well known that preparing such large-scale attacks takes up to a week. Nevertheless, the trip also had clearly been planned in advance. While standing on the red carpet and attending official meetings in Romania, Zelenskyy addressed Ukrainians many of whom cannot leave the coountry, informing them about the number of drones and missiles flying toward their cities and advising them on staying safe. When he is in Kyib, during these attacks, he himself is in a secure bunker — just as Putin likely is. This Putin-Zelenskyy war is inhumane and insanely brutal. In Kyiv alone, two people were killed and around 40 wounded in the latest strike. While both leaders stay protected in bunkers or behind fortified walls, ordinary Ukrainians are left exposed to death and destruction. In the cruel absurdity of a war the safety of the two main figures is guaranteed, while the lives of civilians are treated as collateral damage.

As of now, already 5 people have been reported killed in Kyiv as a result of last night’s Russian attack. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Around 40 people have been injured in the capital, and another 7 in the Kyiv region. There are already 28 injured in Kharkiv. And two people have been injured in the Odesa region. In total, 180 sites have been damaged across the country, including more than 50 ordinary residential buildings. A search and rescue operation is still ongoing in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district. Efforts continue to find people under the rubble. More than 10 people are reported missing. All necessary services are also operating in the Obolonskyi district. And recovery efforts are underway after Russian strikes in the Poltava region. Overall, more than 750 personnel of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and nearly 750 police officers have already been engaged across the country to eliminate the consequences of the attack.
