@ACEconPolicy it's the prettiest view on the boardwalk. Too bad they ruined it with that decaying Welcome Center and the Korean War memorial on the boardwalk.

Brighton Park existed to protect the Claridge open ocean view. It has a deed restriction that prohibits building on the site. And a reverted clause which returns site to prior owner if it doesn’t. The proposed open air design might be able to work around the deed restriction.

IMPORTANT! Empire Wind 1 Construction & HF Radar Disruptions: Starting May 2025, construction for Empire Wind 1 will begin off the coast of Long Island & New Jersey. This project poses serious risks to maritime safety, including disruptions to high-frequency (HF) radars used for search and rescue operations. What This Means: • HF radar is crucial for tracking ocean currents and aiding search and rescue missions. • Turbine interference could reduce the accuracy of Coast Guard operations, making it harder to locate vessels in distress. • This could delay emergency response times for commercial fishermen, recreational boaters, and anyone navigating these waters. Your safety should NOT be compromised! Let’s make sure decision-makers understand the dangers before it’s too late. Contact your representatives. Call the Dept. of Interior and ask for an expedited review of this project. (202) -208-3100 @DougBurgum @leemzeldin #MaritimeSafety #SearchAndRescue #EmpireWind1 #FishingCommunity #OffshoreWindRisks

We need to bring energy costs down for New Jersey families. As Governor, I’ll embrace an all-of-the-above approach. We need nuclear, wind, solar, hydrogen, and natural gas so that we can increase energy generation without placing the burden on families’ energy bills.

Last year, the @SFWMD & @AudubonFL celebrated the completion of a dispersed water management initiative that uses farms, ranches, and wetlands to temporarily hold rainwater, filtering out pollution & replenishing aquifers while creating wildlife habitat. bit.ly/4hav2k8

INDUSTRIAL NOISE POLLUTION KILLS Posting this again because people need to understand. Impulsive seismic 2000-psi airgun noise kills larval krill immediately within 1.2 km. Wind turbine pile driving has the same shockingly loud noise levels as the 2000-psi seismic airguns used in this research. How do we know? We measured 11/2/23 offshore. See figure below. Baleen whales need krill for survival. My working assumption: Critically endangered whales don't have the energy budget to roam tens to hundreds of miles for food after the krill have been killed in their habitat. This is noise burden. Permitting pile-driving in whale habitat looks like a conscious, deliberate action to drive endangered whales faster towards extinction. nature.com/articles/s4155…

The New Killing Fields will be off Long Beach Island, NJ. Permission has been granted for the incidental take of marine mammals during offshore wind (#OSW) construction activities, set to begin in January 2025. The project involves driving a 2,000-ton foundation into the seabed using a 100-ton hammer, striking an estimated 19,000 times to install just a single foundation. Everyone please help us stop this project before it begins @GovMurphy. Stay informed. Follow us on X. #MarineLifeMatters #SavetheEastCoast tinyurl.com/msvt7w38

They’re planning on building OSW farms right on top of the New York Bight Scallop Rotational Area scallop beds. (area inside the blue box). They’re going to pile drive 1000s of tons of steel into the ocean floor here and lay gravel mats over top for scour protection. They plan on plowing the ocean floor to jet trench emf laden cables. These scallop beds will not survive this. Click the link to see what local fishermen are already experiencing with survey activities in this area. m.youtube.com/watch?v=9hrREe… Courtesy: Roberta Mauch

The site of an old fossil fuel power plant in Salem is about to become a brand-new offshore wind terminal, and the turbines built here will bring clean energy to homes and businesses in Massachusetts and beyond.   Communities who powered our past can still help power our future.
