Shell's "Pause" on Atlantic Shores is NOT ENOUGH—The Fight to Stop Offshore Wind Continues! An article appeared in investing.com with a headline that Shell has withdrawn from the Atlantic Shores project.  Unfortunately, that is not correct. The article text says they are just taking a pause in their investment for it and recording an accounting loss. A pause is not good enough. They are to be expected given the new direction in federal policy. #SaveLBI is continuing its effort to have the prior project approvals overturned in court, the lease area itself canceled, and the right whale protected.

But, wait. The government said there are no drones. They also said that the drones that don’t exist are not dangerous. They also said they don’t have the authority to shoot down the drones that don’t exist. And you need not be worried because you’re confusing the drones that don’t exist with manned aircraft because as you know , drones and manned aircraft look almost identical.

@CollinRugg The scariest part is our government is acting like it’s perfectly normal. Their inaction speaks volumes.

NEW: NewsNation reporter says his entire view of the New Jersey drones has changed after he witnessed 50 of them flying from the ocean. The drones are reportedly 8-10 feet wide and can’t be detected because they don’t give off heat. “I gotta be honest here. You know when this story first came out a few weeks ago… I didn't pay it much credence.” “The experience I had last night, however, changed the way I feel about this story completely.” “What I saw was more sophisticated than I ever imagined.” “We've been looking for the past hour. I think we've seen about 40 or 50 of these drones.” “One of their officers called 911 after seeing 50 of them come off the ocean.”

Why we fight Dolphins and whales are extremely adept at navigating around fishing gear and ships—when their hearing is intact. The offshore wind industry, @NOAA @BOEM and the @KamalaHarris @JoeBiden administration are lying when they claim that loud, industrial noise from the offshore wind industry isn’t adversely impacting marine mammals. OOPS! DID WE FORGET THE GRID? Gina McCarthy, former EPA head, admits that integrating wind and solar energy into the grid has proven more difficult than anticipated, with grid stability and transmission permitting posing major obstacles. tinyurl.com/3vfptt8v

NOAA report sends mixed message on wind power and risk to whales by @willsennott Federal agencies have reauthorized a controversial permit for Vineyard Wind’s final phase of construction, allowing the wind farm developer to continue pile driving with some impact on endangered whale species.  The permit allows Vineyard Wind to finish pile-driving the foundations for its wind turbines in proximity to whales. It does not declare that the industry will not harm whales. It calls it “extremely unlikely” that it will hurt any North Atlantic right whales. But it says a small number of whales of other species may experience temporary to permanent hearing impairment as a result of the noise from pile-driving. Under the new authorization, Vineyard Wind may injure one fin whale, two humpback whales, one minke whale, one sei whale and one harbor seal under “Level A Harassment.” It may disturb seven right whales, six fin whales, four humpback whales, 28 minke whales, two sei whales, two sperm whales, as well as hundreds of dolphins and seals in total from various species, under “Level B Harassment.” “Our analysis determined that pile driving is likely to adversely affect [marine mammals] … and cause behavioral response, and stress in a small number of individual North Atlantic right, fin, sei, and sperm whales,” NOAA wrote in its opinion. “Pile driving is also likely to result in [permanent auditory injury] in five fin***and two sei*** whales.” ***my asterisks- Those are endangered whales*** #DeafWhaleMeansSoonToBeDeadWhale #WhenDidSaveTheWhalesMeanDeafenTheWhales #WowIWonderWhyAllThoseShipStrikesHaveHappened 😵‍💫 @RobertKennedyJr @realDonaldTrump @KamalaHarris #SaveOurShores #SaveOurSeas #SaveTheWhales #SaveOurCoastalCommunities #StopOffshoreWindNow newbedfordlight.org/noaa-report-se…

19,300 x 357 (the # of platforms to be built off of @LongBeachIsland) = 6.8 million sonic blows that WILL impact the hearing of marine mammals. Why does @BOEM and @NOAA support this? @DefendBrig @CleanOcean @ack4whales @Congressman_JVD @Jack4NJ @springsteen @jonbonjovi @KelseyGrammer @SenBooker @GinaRaimondo @missbelmar @mtkblb @LongBeachTwp

The New Killing Fields will be off Long Beach Island, NJ. Permission has been granted for the incidental take of marine mammals during offshore wind (#OSW) construction activities, set to begin in January 2025. The project involves driving a 2,000-ton foundation into the seabed using a 100-ton hammer, striking an estimated 19,000 times to install just a single foundation. Everyone please help us stop this project before it begins @GovMurphy. Stay informed. Follow us on X. #MarineLifeMatters #SavetheEastCoast tinyurl.com/msvt7w38

WIND TURBINE NOISE POLLUTION NOT CLEAN, NOT GREEN, NOT EVER ATLANTIC CITY and BRIGANTINE - INTRUSIVE NOISE Intrusive low frequency noise levels from Atlantic Shores 200 offshore turbines have been estimated for indoors spaces onshore. Using the Swedish noise propagation model for wind turbines over water, and wind industry noise reduction coefficients, average low-frequency indoors noise levels exceed 30 dB,Lpa,LF in Atlantic City and Brigantine. Pulsatile fluctuations can exceed 6 to 11 dB over the averages. How do we know? The wind industry measured fluctuations in a large study funded by Massachusetts, and submitted the data in a legal filing in Michigan. Fluctuations also documented at multiple locations including on Nantucket where the local school installed a 100KW turbine resulting in complaints and appeals to stop the noise within 1000 feet of the school. Charts below show the pulsatile Lpa,LF low frequency intrusive noise measured in a neighbor's home in 2012, where the neighbor was seeking relief from the excessive noise and resulting sleep deprivation and loss of amenity. The Atlantic Shores consultants have not provided any assessment of intrusive wind turbine noise arriving onshore. Are Atlantic City hotels prepared? cc @saveLBIorg @RepVanDrewStaff

Offshore wind turbines have no noise limits. None. Tip speeds run well over 200 miles per hour.

OFFSHORE WIND NOISE POLLUTION Atlantic Shores onshore noise impact, dBA re 20uPA, average levels. Computed in Python for 200 wind turbines, conservative Swedish propagation model for offshore wind turbines over hard surface, kml export to Google Earth. Average noise levels are estimated at 47 dBA at the nearest point onshore. Wind turbine noise fluctuations have been documented by the wind industry at 6-11 dB over the average*. Fluctuating sound pressure levels can be expected to exceed the NJ night noise limit of 50 dBA within range of the 40 dBA contour, and definitely within the 45 dBA contour. cc @saveLBIorg @RepVanDrewStaff *RSG et al, “Massachusetts Study on Wind Turbine Acoustics,” Massachusetts Clean Energy Center and Massachusetts (MassCEC) Department of Environmental Protection, 2016, and, Memo, from Ken Kaliski, P.E., INCE Bd.
