@FixingEducation I agree in principle, but there are parents who don’t parent. So, if the goal is to educate students, teachers have no choice but to fill the parental role in a small way. Worrying about Bloom is pointless until Maslow is at least partially satisfied.

Schools exist to support families, not replace parents. That means parents need to actually parent, and the govt & communities need to stop treating schools as the fix for bad parenting. If you’re an educator who thinks otherwise, you’ve watched too many teacher hero movies.

This was 15 years ago tonight. Since then, I’ve done another 1,000+ Pacers broadcasts, and I never stop being amazed at how fortunate I’ve been that my career took me to the best franchise out there, nor do I take for granted everyone that has made this such an enjoyable journey.

Schools should more consistently expel students who continually disrupt learning. States should require those students to transition to structured online programs instead of returning to school.

A power outage at Denver International Airport impacted operations for a couple of hours on Wednesday morning and prompted the FAA to ground flights.
