@BrentToderian @mateosfo What if your city has invested billions of space to these lanes but statistics show <1% of city residents actually use them? At what point would one be prepared to accept the experiment is a failure?

If you’re in your car in traffic and you see people moving smoothly on bikes in a protected bike-lane, or a full bus zooming past you in a bus-only lane, sure you could be mad at them for moving faster than you, or you could be someone who understands geometry and knows that providing mobility choices that take less space makes getting around cities better for EVERYONE.

Streetfilms’ archive is also a good resource for people who claim there was somehow no traffic in Manhattan 20 years ago.
Streetfilms (Now 1,134+ films!)@Streetfilms

Here I am in 2006 on Lafayette Street encouraging the city to explore making the striped #bikenyc lane into a protected one. It took a long while but they did. And now @NYC_DOT is going to make it TWO-WAY and substansially widen it! If you had told 20 years ago @PurpleClarence we'd get a 2-way super wide protected path through the heart of lower Manhattan....wow! Just WOW! @OpenPlans @StreetsblogNYC @bfurnas @vinbarone @saraklind @jonorcutt @BobaCyclist @BrentToderian @Jonathan_Maus @chabot_jackson @RegionalPlan @GridlockSam @AndrewGiambrone @gregmocker @TransAlt @Gothamist

"Residents won't use bikes or scooters." "Commuters won't use bikes or scooters." "Tourists won't use bikes or scooters." And then something magical happens when you create a network of bike lanes. 👀

@GregoryFrank11 @ParvadaM20254 @StatusQuoRules @jjjjjeeeel @BriannaWu The majority of Israelis want to continue it's cleansing of Palestinians from the region. Between supporting the group that talks shit but can't do shit or supporting the group that talks shit AND doing shit... the moral choice is to oppose the group doing the shit.

Progressives seem able to grasp ideas like overpolicing but are unable to apply those concepts to the West Bank. Here’s the truth. Judea and Samaria are the historic homeland of the Jewish people. Jordan briefly held this land after 1948 but it was never recognized as theirs. Since Israel recaptured it in the Six-Day War, international law has often been used as a weapon against Israel as it tries to keep its people safe. There are about 50 Muslim-majority countries. There is one Jewish state. And as politically incorrect as it sounds, many politicians in those Muslim-majority countries gain power the same way racist Mississippi politicians in the Deep South once did, by demonizing Israelis. There are regular terror attacks in the West Bank against Israelis living there, which Israel considers legal under the Oslo Accords. Progressives don’t seem to care. Their best plan seems to be for Jews to roll over and die.

@AlexSJacquez Why are the costs for services record-breakingly high for this administration? Has anyone ever spent so much per student or per homeless person with so little results?

This comes out to $2,400 on average for each worker affected. That’s real money — more than all the stimmy checks combined. And Sam is still litigating to get even more compensation for workers’ damages. This is what government of the people looks like.

@StreetsblogNYC Streetsblog pretends to be for better walking but chooses the bikers over the much, much, much more numerous pedestrians? The metaphor to cars is a distraction from whose rights are actually being hurt by all this--pedestrians

New York City's criminal crackdown on cyclists finally ends this Friday, after nearly a year of forcing cyclists to go to criminal court for the same infractions that'd earn car drivers a moving violation. Here's what you need to know.

NYC is home to more millionaires and billionaires than any other place on Earth, and Trump just gave them a massive federal tax cut. Hundreds of thousands of NYers are about to lose healthcare because of that same cut. We can literally save lives by raising taxes on the rich.
Alex Jacquez@AlexSJacquez

NYC has continued to grow, but because the city largely doesn't control its own taxing authority, revenue has fallen as a share of GDP over the last two decades. NYC is overdue for raising revenue.

Shocking new polling shows British Muslims prefer Iran, China and Russia to the US & Israel. This is alignment with despots, the ayatollahs, enemies of the UK, and the 'axis of resistance' - and it should worry us all. Great work from @rakibehsan see report @Policy_Exchange

@owenslindsay1 It's amazing how others will do the same gymnastics to not look at their expenses. We cannot keep on spending without looking at potential ways to save money. Progressives here seem like they want to spend without oversight. We should audit ourselves. its responsible.

@owenslindsay1 Shouldn't you pay all of your money into taxes before reaching into other people's pockets? Not just in the government sphere, but in the private sphere spending other people's money as a solution to your problems probably seems like a really good idea.
