Maharashtra’s proposed housing society rules aim to end disputes over maintenance charges by clearly defining which expenses must be shared equally and which should be linked to flat size across over 1.5 lakh societies.
Service charges, staff salaries and lift maintenance will be shared equally, while insurance, repair and sinking funds will be calculated based on flat size. The rules are expected to be notified in the coming months.

BMC has demolished unauthorized extensions at four hotels —-What’s Your Bahana, Trovh 9, Juliet, and Yazu on Veera Desai Road and Off New Link Road in Andheri West for illegally covering mandatory open spaces designated as service areas. The action was carried out on June 9. During the operation, officials removed the illegal structures and seized 24 chairs, a cooking range, a microwave oven, three coolers, an electric fryer, and two speakers.
