@Kimberl76740458 @cspan New Mexico is unique in that takes about 50% of its revenue and puts it into state funds. If they did a gas tax holiday they would need to find money. Given the state sells 3 million gallons of gas a day and the state gas tax is 17 cent tax they’d have to find $510,000 per day.

Taxes on the oil when it’s taken from the land, combined with royalties for the state, combined with production and income/sales tax. So as oil prices increase the state generates more off its fixed rate. Example: 1% of 100 v 1% of 110

The Energy Czar and Executive Director of the Public-Private Partnerships Authority, Josué A. Colón Ortiz, P.E., accompanied by representatives from the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, visited the San Juan Power Plant, operated by @Genera_PR, to welcome a delegation of Chiefs of Staff from the U.S. Senate, the @WestCaucusFound, and The @LIBREinitiative. During the visit, technical personnel from Genera Puerto Rico provided an overview of the island’s generation system, including ongoing projects and planned initiatives to strengthen energy capacity. The delegation also toured the company’s and New Fortress’s facilities to overview current operations. We continue strengthening Puerto Rico’s position as a key player in the security of the Western Hemisphere through a meeting with Christopher Creaghe, Commanding General of the 1st Mission Support Command of the United States Army.
